Hi, my name is Lukasz and I`m from Poland.

I've been painting commissions for about 2-3 years and now I would like to spread my services beyond Polish borders.
You may have already seen my gallery on coolminiornot.com: http://www.coolminiornot.com/artist/LukaszZelazek?browseid=12222767

If you have some questions or want to see models from different angles please ask here.
Usually more angles of my miniatures can be found in submitted photos or on my website.

Let's move to the actual reason of this gallery existence, which is posting bigger, heavier photos that CMON accepts in submissions so you can see the details more clearly:

hello, id like to start by saying that these clearly show off painting skill in terms of technique, better than i could do at least, however there same to be many details that haven't been painted, for example the rings that attach the banner to the pole, the tops of the wolf tail talismans (the dome like parts tend to be a metal) there is a zig zag pattern on the shoulder pad with the paw on which is usually painted a different colour (space wolves use different colours to indicate their rank/squad type) and it looks like the dual lightning claw one has another gem on his kneepad that hasnt been painted.

i didnt want to sound overly critical because i think these show you have talent for painting, but i think these small missed details will likely effect your score

Thank you Sicks for taking a time to write a detailed review. I want to become a better painter so such meticulous feedback is priceless for me.
On Polish forum I received also pointers that i should blend the icicles with the branch more using glue or something. They look really fake now.

The worst thing is to be unaware of your mistakes, which sometimes you just don't notice and a thaught about correcting something doesn't cross your mind.
Thanks to forums and helpful people like you I became aware of them and next time I paint I will remind myself to check all gems and rings etc.

Thanks again,
Cheers.

Hello Lukaszzelazek,
I like the look of your Nurgle Space Marines. The glowing eyes affect looks nice. The ooze you placed on the base for two of the miniatures has a very nice greenish/yellow . I see where you painted cracks on the shoulder pad of the marine with flamer. For a table top quality these minis are excellent!! One of the things to me that they could use is a bit more attention to the shoulder pads since they are such a large canvas and noticed easily on the gaming table. Something that would make them stand out is the Nurgle Symbol painted on the shoulder pad. Also, if you wanted to try and expand the cracks to make them look as if the armor is expanding/exposing rustic metal you could try something like this by Artur. For table top it shouldn't be that bad. Paint a spot with scorched brown or bestial and then outline it. Small details like this help a miniature pop on the gaming table. A few edge highlights can help achieve it to stand out as well. Overall these minis look great. Looking forward to more of your work.

Thanks for awsome tips. The rustic metal effect that you suggested is really effective and quite easy to do. I saved the picture and will use it as reference next time I paint Nurgle stuff.

Frankly said I was quite stunned that CSM got much higher notes than Blood Claw. They were much less time consuming and didn't require skin shading.

I guess it's clear who would win this duel if it came to looks:

Sure thing. Glad it helps you with having more options/ideas.

That's because papa nurgle rewards better ;)
I wouldn't fret about the ratings on this site. They're rather inconsistent with how people vote...some vote according to their preferences in miniatures rather than paint job.

LOL yeah I've had to show that pic to people when I try to explain how small they are.

I really like your paint job on the Aleph and great combination of colors. Are these for display quality. Look much more detailed vs your previous miniature posts.

ALEPH is the most recent and there is a lot more miniatures because it's entire army painted like that so they aren't painted for display purposes.
I made my galleries on a lot of international forums and would like to spread my painting service outside of Poland and rise my prices because painting quality miniatures like i did with ALEPH takes a lot of time and patience.
The problem is that I started promoting my services only 5 days ago and I suppose it will take more time to earn trust of foreign customers. We will see how my business idea will turn out. I think there are people who like my style and would like to have miniatures painted like that and I hope it's just a matter of time until I will finally send some miniatures outside of Poland. :)

I hear ya bro. It takes time and you never know you might have a bunch of work come your way all at once. I've done commissions for about two yrs and it always seemed to be in waves when people wanted their stuff painted. Not sure if you use Ebay but worth a shot putting a few pieces on there. Might bring in a few customers for commissions. One of my best customers discovered my work through Ebay. Even though CMON is widely used by painters/gamers not everyone knows about it. A local gaming shop I visit and have done commissions for in the past none of them knew about this site suprisingly...but most of them used Ebay to buy their miniatures.

If you do a search on this forum I'm sure there are threads created on expanding your commission business. Your work looks good so keep at it and continue improving your techniques.

Thanks for awsome tips Helgar. Maybe I will buy some Infinity miniarures because they seem to be most effective looking and put them on ebay.
In future I would love to draw comicbooks related to wargaming universes. For that I need time and money. Despite having biotechnology master degree I would like to develop my career as an artist because I find that more fulfilling. I have so many ideas, if only I earned trust of people on forums (maybe with fb or youtube videos?) that would be so great.

Cheers!

i really like the infinity minis and the nurgle marines :) been thinking about picking up some infinity minis to practice but lately i've found that smaller miniis packed with detail give me a headache after an hour or 2 of painting them :(

i think the trouble with international comissions is the added postage fees as well as there is usually someone in the same country as the customer who would be able to do it too (meaning less shipping fees and probably faster delivery times)

Yeah, for me personally I stick to sh/h only in my country just because of like said the sh/h fees and problems that you might have with customs shipping across the pond and etc. It sucks having to turn away work...but for me personally I just don't care to deal with all the hassle of it.

Lukaszzelazek - That's awesome you have interest in drawing comicbooks for wargaming. Maybe one of these days you can share with us a sketch in relation to 40k or something. :)

As far as painting for ebay/commission just remember to do what you love man. If people like your work they will come to you. The thing about this hobby is it's very rewarding when you paint for you and just go with the flow of things.

Well I agree only partially. There are many studios in Europe and Poland that get work from other countries and they do just fine. Postal services in modern age are very consistent, fast and reliable. Considering how big investment new army is, this 7-14 days in transport are not such a big deal in my opinion. I would like to work for people who want to invest time and money to have really awsome looking collections and not just speed painted armies for the tournament requiring painted models. I think there are people who know that they are buying army for years or even their entire life and would like it to be very nicely painted. Thats why I hope to learn new tricks of the trade and became even better.

About my drawing. So faar most of my drawings depict cute women or horny lesbians (for learning human anatomy purposes). Maybe I will scan some.

I'm sure there are companies that are consistent, fast and reliable and I might try international shipping in the future. Just for me as of now I like the ease of putting the items in a box and within a few days the customer receiving the minis and not having to worry about it going through customs because I failed to do something correctly. Simple minded or lazy of me...perhaps. If I was able to quit my day job and pay the bills with painting full time I'd certainly welcome the option of shipping internationally.

I admire your wanting to work with people that want awesome looking collections. Most certainly there are people wanting well painted armies. Are you planning on staying solo or starting up your own painting studio later on? Whichever path you take I really hope it works out for you.

The Waywatchers look really good. I like the freehand symbols on the inside of the cloaks. The one thing that stands out to me is the backside of the cloaks though. I can tell you was going for highs/shading. In some spots it doesn't look like "natural lighting" The guy on the far right for example. Under his satchel the highs seem to wrap around the cloak rather than vertically. The section near the rope that is highlighted should be shaded in my opinion. To me it looks as if the higher area should be brighter and then shading should flow down since it appears to be flowing back as if the wind or quick movement is pushing it back in the lower section. Hopefully this makes sense and helps you some.

Here is a great Article by the fellas at MV about Zenithal lighting. It helps breakdown the understanding of placing highlight/shading on miniatures. The guys at MV have tons of articles that you might find helpful.
