Looking for wolf models

Hi all, hopefully this is the right section to put this... I am currently looking for nicely sculpted wolf models to use as mounts for Warhammer Chaos Knights or marauders. As such, the size I need is relatively specific since they are going to need to be able to have a knight sit on the back without his feet dragging on the ground or looking like he would crush the poor thing. They also need to be not so large that they won't rank up next to each other on 25x50mm cavalry bases.

I've had a bit of a look at the upcoming GW Thunderwolf cavalry, and they are great but from the pictures it looks to me like they would dwarf a cavalry base. Goblin cavalry wolves are most likely going to be too small. I've also had a look at these but from what I can tell, they might also be too big.

Essentially I need something that is about the same kind of size as a GW horse.

Anyone know of any? Any replies much appreciated.

Otherworld Miniatures and Reaper both do Dire Wolves, might be worth casting about for some exact size information? Cheers, B.

Scratch that, I've just dug out my Reaper P-65 Dire Wolves and sat them next to a GW plastic Chaos Knight sprue. They're not big enough. I can't imagine the Otherworld will be much bigger either. You might need to step up a scale size to find any and I'd expect them to be plastic or Resin as metal would be too expensive to bother with. Or go with one of the GW after-market companies as per your link.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I did look at the fenrisian wolf pack, and I suspect they will be too small, but I will have to hold them in person to find out.

I do like the microart studio ones, but they say they are 8cm long and the feet sit right on the edge of 60mm bases so again they are probably going to be too big to rank up on cavalry bases and will stretch a long way out either end of the base. It is a pretty awkward size I am looking for; 'normal' wolves are too small and giant wolves that fit space marines are typically made for 60mm round bases that don't need to rank up.

Gamezone make some goblin wolf riders that look a bit bigger than normal wolves, certainly long enough. I wonder if they would be tall enough though.

Well, I got into my local GW today to check out the new Space Wolf models. I confirmed that the Thunderwolves are way too large, however, the Fenrisian were surprisingly larger than I thought they would be. They will work nicely for marauder horsemen.

I'm starting to think I might just stick with the horses for knights since they look really cool, but a slightly bulked up version of fenrisians would also work well so I might look into finding a sculpter to modify them. :)

Any idea what size base the Game of Thrones wolf is on? It looks nice. The Mythicast ones look about the same size as dire wolves which is quite small.

I just stumbled across some really cool wolf models by Masquerade and remembered seeing this post. I believe they are heroic scale. I'm not sure if Masquerade is on the net - I found it on my wholesaler's website.

Anyway, just a thought for ya.

Thunderwolves

Hi, I scullpted these for a local Space Wolf player. There are three basic poses, but they are assembled like GW horses. The head, tail, left and right sides are interchangeble. They were made to rank up on standard calvary bases because I plan to use them in my O&G fantasy army. Please excuse the paint job.
