Looking for sculpting guidance

Last night I tried my hand at a conversion that required me to sculptfor the first time. The model is intended to be a dark angels apothecary, and since they wear robes I needed to sculpt a bit to retain the apothecary belt with all of the medical bits. I'm looking for some feedback from some of the sculpting vets here on what I can do to improve. Right now, I can already tell that I may have made the cloth look too heavy, as though it's made from tanned leather rather than cotton. I also noticed that if the ridges of the folds aren't really smooth they look a bit lumpy. Any advice or even recommendations on practice methods would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind, I only did the robe above the belt line.

It's not looking too bad to my eyes.
I'm not a sculptor, but a careful touch with wet 4-800 grit emery paper will help smooth out any roughness.
Just keep it small and slow.

That's good advice from DR, If you have any large lumps you can shave them with a sharp scalpel blade first then use the paper to finish off.
