Hello,

My name is Chris Pelletier (I go by Warmaster Primus or Crispy on most forums) and I am trying to make painting a larger component of both Crossroads GT & Da Boyz GT. Right now, both GTs have painting components in their overall scores, and each has a best painted award for the army with the best appearance. I’d like to expand on that, but how far do I want to expand? That’s where I need help.

Crossroads GT (Sep 23-25, Horseheads, NY) is a 80+ person Warhammer Fantasy GT. We run a team tournament and a Grand tournament starting Friday night, thru Sunday. Da Boyz GT (Oct 21-23, Rochester, NY) is featuring a Warhammer Fantasy & 40K Grand tournaments, as well as Warmachine & Hordes, Malifax and other smaller events. Last year's event brought in more than 120 people, and this years we're looking to expand further.

Minimally, I would like to host a painting competition. Because this would be the first year I am doing this, and with only 3-4 months of time before the event, I don’t think it would be at the level of Golden Daemon. That said, I would like to try and run a successful event.

Building on that, I’d love to see painting & sculpting seminars and vendors. I think that we have players attending both events that are hungry for classes covering advanced painting techniques, and would love a chance to get some of the minis they see on CMoN.

From friends that attended Adepticon, I heard that CMoN was trying to reach out to smaller painting events to help support the community and drive further competition. I’ve tried the ‘contact’ email on the main site, but I haven’t received anything back. So I’m putting this out on the forums to see if I can get some contacts.

I’m looking for help from anyone that wants to help.

thanks
-Chris

Got a website? I would be interested in the malifaux. It may be short notice but hosting the guy who does masterclass might be an idea. Although his 2 day painting events wouldn't leave room for the people taking the class to game. Ipmsusa.org may have a local chapter near you, although they deal with plastic model kits they are still painters and they maybe able to point some vendors your way. Here is a list of vendors from another group, http://www.mfcashow.com/links.html
Is the event being held at a store or a hotel or something?
The other thing is look at your local talent where you game. Who is the best painter? Ask him to be the judge and maybe teach a small class. By taking the best known painter out of the competition you will give others hope and interest in entering at a chance to win. Hope this helps.
