Hi, Im just getting back into painting after not doing it for years. Ive been looking for a nice cam thats Debian/Linux friendly and good enough for model photos. I wanna get some wips and pics online once ive finished my pieces. This sites been good inspiration so far so i might aswell show off my stuff.

( I have got one of my old models online under Djartistknights gallery if anyone fancys a look at my previous works, he did OSL on it after i finished it )

Well your using operateing systems most here will have no clue about.

Id suggest you check review sites like this one http://www.steves-digicams.com/ and see if you can find anything out.

Keep in mind, most cameras operate off a data card of some type so its not that you need a camera to work with those systems you need a card reader that works with those systems. Id go for a camera that uses a SD memory card which seems to be the most common and find a card reader that will work for you.

I have an old Canon Powershot A70. It takes Compact Flash Memory cards and I use a Universal Card Reader to transfer the pictures from the card to the pc.

I don\'t use any of the camera software but just take the card out of the camera and stick it in the universal card reader which plugs into the pc via USB2. I use this on Suse Linux 10.2 and have no problems at all. I didn\'t need to set anything up for the card reader to work on Linux.

I think don\'t worry about getting a Linux friendly camera but instead get a camera that meets your needs and also buy a card reader. The card reader should work on modern Linux versions straight out of the box.
