Hej.
Getting back into painting lately after a long (2 yr) break due to work and life. Just posted two minis here, one finished just before the break, one finished just last month. Looking for any advice...
Belshazzar the Musketeer:

My own biggest gripe with this figure is that the shoulder cowl is the last thing I painted, and I was getting impatient and rushed it. And I think this shows. I am really happy with the blending on the green coat though the photo might be a little dark to show it off well. A friend observed that my colors on this piece are warm over all and some detail in a cool color would have helped give the piece a little more \"pop\", and I am inclined to agree with him. But I am curious for more input...

I am happy with the blending on the banshee\'s armor here. I am less thrilled with the base. It wa smy first attempt at a scenic base, and I think it has too much of the \"elephant poo\" rock style too (as Matt Gubser refers to it ). I like the construction of the Marine victim on the base, and am happy with the falling sword from his hand bit, BUT I did not paint the marine to the same standard as the main figure, and I think this pulls the over all figure down. I have seen it in plenty of other peoples\' work, and I see it here in my own - if you are going to do a scenic base, make sure you craft it as well as the figure that stands on it. Any other thoughts?
Both are on 25mm round bases fitted into scenic display bases (held on with rare earth magnets).
