Long time creeper, first time poster

As the title says, I've been a long time creeper of the great minis on this website, and yesterday I finally got the courage up to make an account and take some pictures of the latest things I've painted ('latest' being a loose term, since the two guys I posted were painted back in 2008 or so, just before I went on my hiatus from the hobby). When I painted these, my goal was high table top quality, and I went for a cartoony kind of look. I also tried out NMM (I think the gold came out much nicer than the silver, too). Apologies in advance, as the pictures were taken on my phone and put through MS Paint.

What I'm looking for is any comments or criticisms, or anything that would help me improve my painting. Looking at the pictures rather than the actual mini, I can see some things that stick out, but I'm not sure if that's just the computer/phone playing tricks on me, if it's because these guys got 'placed' into a moving box (and I wasn't the one doing the placing), or if it's something I need to work on technique-wise.
Many thanks in advance!

First of all welcome to the forums! Not the best pic as mentioned. Looks like you have the basics down well. Are you looking to stay at a good tabletop or aiming for display or comps? At a quick glance, I'd say thin your paints a a
tad more and build up the layers of colour slower, and therefore, more
smoothly

Thanks for the welcome and response!
I'd like to keep moving towards display level. I've got a section of bookshelf that needs some nice looking minis to fill, and cooler figs would fill it well.
I'll give further thinning paints down a go, and I'll try to post something again for some more feedback.
Thanks again!

I've never heard them mentioned as 'creepers' before. I've heard of Lurkers. Either way, it's scares the hell out of me. YOU CREEPERS COME OUT IN THE LIGHT SO WE CAN SEE YOU!!!

Welcome Crazy, I'm glad you've stepped into the light. Your minis look good, although the pics are terrible. Love to see more.

Welcome to the forums Chester :brushwave:

Looks as though you're at the stage many of us end up breaking cover from and posting! Everything looks nice & neat, so you're into thinning paint to reduce the roughness & achieve smooth blending between layers (as Freak said). Use sympathetic colour darklining rather than flat blacklining. Keep on practicing!

A WIP or Project Log thread should help you get more specific feedback once you've got going on a new mini :)

Cheers, B.
