Liquids/Fluids

I need suggestions for glues or whatever else to make into 3D liquids/fluids on minis.
I\'m talking about creatures with saliva or phlem hanging from theyre faces or the puddles on show bases and game boards.
What is used to achieve the effect?
Ive tried a few things but most have left me less than impressed...

Thanks,
Sam

Molten plastic works for the slime and saliva on mouths.
Nail-polish in several layers works for liquids on the ground (thx for this tip Jenova :) )

Take a look at....

http://www.woodlandscenics.com/

They do some good stuff.

Clear epoxy glue is useful for small amounts of goo;)

Yeah Woodland Scenics Water Effects is great for clear ooze dripping off a chin or waterfall (if it\'s dripping far you can attach a piece of fishing line to the model for support and put the Water Effects over that), the Realistic Water is better if it\'s a puddle on the ground, but a layer of glue as suggested is cheaper. It really depends on the effect you\'re going for and how clear you need the end result to be etc.

If it\'s going to be coloured slime dripping from a playing piece you should go for some 2 part epoxy mixed with some paint. I find this to be the easiest method because it tends to leave the slime shiny and is fairly durable.

I\'ve been playing with Water Effects and one thing that I\'ve found is that you can take washes and use them as a dye to suspend color in the medium. I do not really have the process down but it works fairly well.

I\'ve actually used model glue in this role. Just put it where you want and stretch it out, leaving it \"stringy.\" I did a set of Geiger\'s Aliens with that on them and they looked pretty good.

pva or varnish in small amounts for goo. i use epoxy on bases because it\'s tougher. i started to use rubber fish tank sealant on one mini and that looked quite good as splashing water although it was a little cloudy.

I\'ve seen a guy use the gloopy messes from his paint pots...seems to work well, although it\'s not a clear droopy...

Try using a Hot-Glue Glue gun and shoot some glue on a piece of plastic, when hardened take it off and turn it around, try to repeat the exact shape you did before. Nail polish and high gloss varnish should make it look like spit and saliva, and ofcourse you can paint it green for acid goo or red for blood. Good luck !

I was looking around at that woodlands scenics site they had some stuff but I dont wanna waste a ton of cash on shibby that doesnt even work.

heehee, noticed that avatar too. If the sludge is dark, what i\'ve done is just dip tissue paper in white glue, then have it hanging off the edge of the tube and going into the water beneath it. You can color this once it\'s dried any color you want, and then add layer after layer of gloss medium.
