Kharnedge WIP blog question.

Hello everyone, I have been toying with the idea of making this post for about three weeks now and have finally decided to take the plunge. I began a blog some time ago after taking an inventory of all the models that I have kicking around in my basement and realized I have quite a bit of work to do ahead of me. Having been using this website as a resource but also following many works of progress on these forums. I have come to realize that the community here is possibly the best and most supportive community out there when it comes to honest, polite feedback and suggestions on how to be better in this wonderful hobby we all share. I am posting a link to my blog which is still quite in its infancy in hopes of getting some of the members here to have a peek and offer support in how to get better. The main question I have with this though is "Is this okay to do or would the community prefer that I post to both, so that feedback is located here on these forums?". As I have said in this post this is the best community out there so what ever works for this group best is how I will proceed. Anyway here is the link to the blog

Cheers and Beers all.

Hi Kharnedge and welcome to the forum. If you post on both your more likely to get comments and critique from people who wouldn't necessarily comment on a blog. As for your models they look a very good gaming standard and your obviously trying new techniques to improve this. keep posting

I think you are fine doing whatever you'd like to do. As far as posting links to your blog, the user ARBAL comes to mind. He's got a thread in the WIP section titled 'Colored Dust' where he posts links to new articles, reviews, tutorials, etc on his blog. No one's complained about that as far as I'm aware.

If you're looking for help and advice on how to improve, I think posting a copy of your blog posts or a shortened version here would get you more responses and feedback. When I'm browsing the forum I'm much more likely to comment on a full post with text and pictures then I am to follow a link and post a comment on a blog (but perhaps that is just me). You could also start off with full posts here and then after people have started to read and comment, start doing mini updates and link to your blog for more info. In the end it's about what works for you and gets you the type of responses you're looking for.

Thank you both for your comments. Perhaps what I will do is summarize the blog posts to here with links as suggested. Most likely what I will do is post an update to here and then strive to hit both sources with the blog having more detail so as to not write novels on this site just progress and my own progression. Thanks again.

Kharnedge WIP

I had posted earlier regarding that I would summarize my blog I have been working on as a WIP but really do not want to overload with pictures when really what I am after is critique on where I am now rather than where I was. I cannot go back and change but perhaps I can adjust or improve on what i have at this point. As such here are the pictures i posted last night to my blog.

I am honestly aware that I am not in the golden demon standard of painting by a long shot but would really enjoy some advise on how to eventually get to that next level of painting. I feel that I may be in the highish level of tabletop standard but would love to reach the display level. Thanks in advance for any input and I will strive to keep this up and going since I have a large number of models that I want to complete so lots of practice ahead of me.
Cheers and Beers all.

Ahh crap my images are huge. Next question I need to ask before any other feedback is how to I go about resizing my images so that they are not as invasive as these?

Almost Perftec! Aw, crap.
Welcome! Try just opening them with paint and resizing them and cropping them. That's what i do. For what it's worth i have a blog and a wip thread here and the wip thread here is better for timely feedback and advice from talented artists.

Hi and welcome. First off, and mean this with the best intentions, your quality is just at or lightly below tabletop standard. For me (heres the subjectivity) I am looking for basic highlights, lowlights and most importantly neatness in basic standard. You have allot of paint in places it shouldn't be and this should be the first thing you work on as you start the climb to the mystical 9. Again welcome and stick with it because we really do only want to help.

Thank you for the honest feedback, that is why I have come to these forums. All of our work will always look better in our eyes but need that outsider opinion and honest opinions at that. Thank you for being honest. If possible could you perhaps explain a little more in depth I have only been at this for about a year. I believe I understand what you are looking for but the execution is not there for me yet, do you know of some posts or perhaps images that could put it a little more into context for me?? I need feedback like this if I expect to grow thanks again!

Not a problem, easiest image for me to use is yours:

What ive circled is color on a surface where it shouldn't be. Get a finer brush and really work to get all the surface of something the color it should be.See where the brown on the bracer isnt on all the bracer, or the green from the hand is on the sword, those are what I mean by neatness.

Ahh I see now. The handles I haven't painted yet those were going to be done after the bracers were finished, but I can for sure see what you mean by missing and not hitting all the area. I do see what you mean for overall neatness as well. I had not noticed the wash had run into the hands and god knows where else until you circled it. Time to turn on some lights and have a closer look. Thanks again for taking the time.
