just an idea...

so i had and idea :idea:. bassicly bacause there are so many talented artists/sculptors/painters on this site i thought that maybe they could become a small company run by the mods:yes:. i would probably not do this because im average in all those catagries:~(. basiccly what would happen (if all agree). is that any memeber of this site could post an idea on this thread.
then if the mods think it good they will contact/pm the artist/s to please do a picture, then if all is great the sculptor could sculpt the picture, if its a nice sculpt with a good idea behind then the model could be cast be \"someone???\" before being painted by the painter, then the model is put on this site in the shop section, were it will (hopefully) bring in massive amounts of money:yes:. of course it would start out volentarilly but soon there will be some money for everyone!!!
so- if you are a artist/sculptor/painter/mod/someone with an idea then post on this thread and if the 1st 4 catogries then just say you would join. note- itll only start if the mods say the ok, but you can still post ideas if someone wants to. BUT bewanerd other companys may take these ideas:no:.

Not to damper your enthusiasm, but there are all sorts of legal issues that having such an open format would cause. For example, who would own the rights to the sculpture? The one who came up with the idea, the one who sculpted it, the one who approved it, or the CMON site itself?

It is a nice dream, but today\'s world would chew it up and spit it on the sidewalk.

well maybe you could just sculpt the model and sell it on cmon??? thats if the owner of this site says ok but thats the mods isnt it???.

Ok what seems like a good idea has quite a few flaws I\'m afraid.
Apart from the obvious one of Copyright laws there is the issue that the moderators on Coolmini are all voluntary.

In order for this to be taken up Coolmini would have to comply with several laws which would in effect turn Coolmini from a open website into the realms of a company.

Commissioning individual models is a different matter but what you are suggesting would require legal guarentees over intellectual property rights as well as a serious investment of capital outlay for mould construction.

besides, without the restriction of one group of people in control and their vision being the way, lots of small mini companies are popping up all the time giving us a nice variety of ideas and styles.

i know, but what i am saying is that WE make the models and sell them. NOT just another company putting there minis and paintes here.bascilly its not the fully employed/super eavy metal painters, but the customer, because lots of painters on cmon wich are loads better than the eavy metal team but have normal jobs, so its just getting a little bit more money for there talents. but not on commision but just models they can paint in some some spare time,they can put these on ebay or they could put them on the shop.
or sculptors. there are loads of really good ones on this site but they could just make a model in there spare time, cast it and put it on the shop. not have to worry about ebay. and soon theyll have piles of money . so i do understand if theres all those copyright problems etc etc. but if it worked i think itd be pretty cool :flip:
