June News, But......

Okay, the newer stuff is up at:
http://www.rackhamstore.com
But I for one have had enough of two things that are REALLY starting to piss me off!!

One: New releases are in French only. What\'s the use of buying any of them,
then? I\'m so backlogged with minis now it\'s not funny (as we are all, I assume). Even if you\'re getting them for Auctions,
people still like English Cards/Rules even if they\'re not going to use it for gaming.

Two: This is only slightly less annoying than above, but still quite. No pics of minis. I
hate it when they give us the artwork and we can\'t see what it really looks like until
someone goes out, buys it, paints it, and posts it somewhere.

I think if rackham wants to give GW a run for their money (which they could, in a
heart beat) they need to get on these two things ASAP.

Okay, mini rant over.

My comments on the minis:

They stripped Sasia down more (if that was even possible).

Van Helsing came out last week. The Griffins obviously took note and hired him.

New Orc: Loooooook into my eyeeeeeesss.... You\'re getting sleeeeepyyyyy...

Drune Guy, you look brunt.. or dead (Strongbad inside joke)

I think heaven\'s missing an angel... :p

I totally, completely agree. I hate it when they use the artwork instead of a photo. Sure, it\'s nice art - but still it\'s a pain.

Ugh, those two new Dirz minis suck. Ain\'t gonna buy \'em, uh-uh. But that\'s my overall impression anyway, anything released on the Dirz front these past few months looks uninspired, crappy and boring compared to the early stuff, such as Razheem, the Biopsist, Volesterus etc.

Van Helsing looks like one of the Darkness Hunters. And you\'re right, hard to say if the sculpt will rock or not when we only get this.

The orc\'s funny with that skull and wings and stuff. It\'s just the paintjob that irks me. How come they weren\'t able to squeeze in some yellow and orange and bright green; then they really would have used every colour available.

The Drune is cool although he looks a bit like a floating mummy.

Aww, that tiny little MidNor voodoo doll, I love it!

And that angel\'s lovely as well, does it come with that other guy? And what is it anyway? Could it be that this is the Light elemental?

Well, first thing, that angel is spectacular! I might have to get that box set! Second thing, not overly keen on any of the other sculpts, except for the orc, which reminds me of that goblin in Labyrinth who has all that junk on her back, very cool. :D Third thing, no moon puppies? ???:(

Awww... horsefeathers! There\'s a special figure coming out with their first novel.
I guess I\'ll have to give up my LE colection, \'cause buying a 100 euro book is not worth it!!!

Ah, well.. sorry Kat, there are no new moon puppies, and the Angel is in a boxed set and
it\'s an Immortal of Light, not an elemental.

Oh... I see, now.. the more expensive one has a lithograph..... Well, screw that! I went
and got the regular one.. but now I still have a novel in a lanugage I can\'t read.... yet.
Also, while I was online at the shop, spending like crazy I went and got the Hunter O\'Darkness dude. I forget his name, Gazelle
or something like that. I\'ll be sure to post a pic of the mini when I get him (that is, if
anyone else hasn\'t before then). :p
I just decided I\'d get him for Hybrid anways, but I\'ll just wait for the English cards...
Moral of this story: just play it cool, yo..

I just have to have that warrior of the pits champion !!!! he looks in style with them and the demonic doll seems cool, hope he\'s a toughie, judging by his cards he could be fun...:D

I like to have my cards in a forein language. It looks cool when palying. But it helps to know what the cards help you do.lol.

I wish they would comeout with more fluff on the armies. Then I\'ll decide who to play.

I\'m still torn between the Alchemist or the Wolfen.:(

I should have guessed...

I have a stash as well. I don\'t know whether to order the book though, or wait and see if an English version comes out....
I think I might hold fire for a while...it\'s not as though I don\'t have enough minis to paint:bouncy:

It bugs me too that Rackham don\'t always release dual language editions of their models. How difficult can it be to at least print French and English cards? You\'d think that they\'d have caught on by now that English is something of a universal language!

It\'s nice to see the Lions being supported again now. I thought they\'d been forgotten in favour of bloody Wolfen or Griffins! Ain\'t got the money to buy new minis at the mo, nor the time to paint em though!

is it just me, or are the paintjobs on these models, although still gorgeous, not up to scratch to their \'normal\' infallible standard? i think the pressure of producing more and more models might be showing a bit there. I love the angel, finally a counter box for my Mid Nor chess set then(if I ever got a chance to paint them that is:()

I agree that the pro-french marketing is a bit odd, since they are missing out on a lot of \'new release rush\' sales by not pulling their foreign rules cards(well, foreign for them anyways :)) releases together with their normal schedule. By the time the models are released with english cards, I\'ve noticed that peeps will have bought the models with the french or german rules, and gotten the translation of the net. This would give them a very distorted view of their english language sales TBH...

Not every figure painted by the Rackham team is utterly incredible, and it\'s not a new thing either! Looking back through my various game cards for my Lions, there are quite a few good but pretty standard paintjobs. Reapers, Bards, Alahel, etc are all pretty bog standard, it\'s just the occasional bit of really good NMM or simple but dramatic highlighting that makes them stand out.

Hmmm...

The French in general, and Rackham in particular, seem to have a different view about marketing strategy.
To some extent I am surprised they even bothered with English language versions at all.
The sheer weight of wonga to be made must have persuaded them otherwise however. They did take their time nonetheless.
On the plus side, their quality is second to none IMO. Their 2004 catalogue might as well belong to Ferrari or some other luxury item.
The new periodical, \'Cry Havoc\' is utterly amazing!! I can\'t read a word of it, but I just look at it and drool:D
It\'s expensive, but by God you get your money\'s worth. And lets be honest, how many other mini firms would release a mag/periodical that costs about $15?
Only the French....

Uh... finn, probably not going to make your day when i say this, but Cry Havoc IS coming out in English.
According to their Website, they\'ll start selling at this year\'s Gencon and then put it online.
Guess my lesson in patience isn\'t rubbing off... :p

Now, everyone sing from West Side Story:
\"Just play it cool boy, real cool....\"
