It is always better to ask Forgiveness then Permission: Or the BS tourney I went to

I could post this on the proper game forum, but I would rather not. I went to a tournament for a game. There are pretty strict conversion rules, so I thought I would e-mail the person running the tourney and ask about the legality of my models. I was told I could not use them. Fine, those are the rules of the tourney format. Nuff said.

So I get to the tourney and out of 20 some players only 3 players had painted armies(I had the the only fully painted army). The rest where primered or bare metal. That sucked, but there where no mandatory paint rules. There where rules about people having fully assembled models. I did see a number of armless torso on the board. Then a freind of the oturney organizer askes the permission to use a converted model that was illegal under the rules. He was allowed to. The final straw was looking over against an opponet who was using another type of model that the organizer deemed illegal and told me I could not use.

Perhaps I am looking to start something, but I realy feel like I was given a BS deal. I had an ok time, but it sucks to play against silver armies no matter how fun my opponets where.

I\'m not familiar with these kinds of tourneys, but I have participated in (and even organized) tournaments for other events in the past.

To allow one player to do something and then not allow another to do the same thing shows poor organization and, to be honest, it\'s unfair. There must be equality (i.e. all rules apply to all the players) or else there\'s really no point to the tournament.

It sounds to me like you got screwed.

As far as others not having their armies painted, as long as it\'s not against the rules, then more power to them. Still, I\'m sure it would be nice to see them painted.

I know it sounds harsh about those sort of rules but it has made the couple of tournies I go to alot better becuase of it. having said that the rules should be evenly applied.

Well i suppose the rules are rules, and you did check, but its a bitch that they let it happen on the day.

But i don\'t think non painted armys should be allowed in tournaments. TBH it just looks crap when facing an army of terminators.

I just wouldn\'t waste my time playing an unpainted army unless it was a good friend testing something new.

Sorry you had to deal with that!

You should see young Master Sequeira\'s marvellous, metallic menagerie of Cygnar.

It\'s a sight to behold! Especially when the \'Jacks drop off their bases!

The proxied figs are my favourite though :D

Just to inject a little humour into this thread:

Well lets put it this way:
Here where the two models I wanted to use:

HPIM3891.jpg

I wanted them to represent these models:

So it was not like I wanted to play with a Pink Bug as a Warjack or a soda bottle as a warcaster

Pretty tragic that. I don\'t see the problem with using Epic models as long as your opponent ok\'s it. Most of them look much better than the originals as well.

James has almost alchemical abilities: he can turn Trenchers into Sword Knights!

I totally agree that its BS to apply rules to certain ppl and not others. As far as the painted armies goes. Well I guess as long as it was part of the rules then theres nothing you can say that time, but I do believe its something you should address to the tournment organizer. I believe if someone wants to organzie and host a tourney they should act professional and that seems to not have been the case in this instance. Its sad that things of this nature take place, for I personally feel that it drives people away from from our hobby
