Hello all! Heres another newbie ? I have..I've been scouring the Internet for instructional dvd's for the beginner painter and there are a few and they are pricey but thats not my problem it's the content within that I'm focused on. Have any of you used these resources when you just started out? If so can you guy's and gal's out there steer me in the right direction please?

Any help would be great..

Thanks all... Craig:brushlick:

I have watched lots of them, and still the best for newbies is probably Hot Lead followed by Dark Swords's with Jen and Anne.

best for beginners: privateer press vol1, and the two skippen suggested, gw youtube videos (just the yt ones, NOT the one that comes with the book)
intermediate: jbt dvd, steel dog dvd
advanced: miniature mentor ones, the other dark sword ones, painting buddha ones

to forget: mentioned gw-dvd, miniwargaming dvd-s (I saw only a few, not every one, but they were not worth it)
no idea: james wappel painting pyramid ones (they should be good, but haven't seen any)

I agree with Skippen I purchased Jen haleys video it has a lot of good info and quite one of the better info v $$.

Go to youtube, look up Painting buddha. You can find every thing you need for any level on youtube. I have brought a few dvd's I would say they are useful and on par with the stuff you can find on you tube. Buy miniatures with your money :)

I paint my thumb.
the painting clinic has a good 'the basics' series, the title says it all. I wouldn't look that way for amazing painting but solid tips anyways. I got the JBT one, really insightful, audio-video is subpar tho and I dont know if the translation is worth anything.
Painting Buddha has the best quality videos I've seen, with the palette view and excellent lighting, and good explanations. I wouldn't categorize them as 'advanced', but maybe that means I'm 'advanced' now, yippy.
