Inquisitor Eisenhorn\'s cloak

Hello everybody

On my first trip to Warhammer World, I purchased the Inquistitor-scale Inquisitor Eisenhorn, in 54mm.

now, so far, I\'ve got on with painting him just fine, but I\'ve just come to the cloak, which is absolute nightmare!

Here are a few reference pics:

Now, it\'s quite a strange colour, I hope you will all agree. It looks, as the base color, very dark purple, worked up to a lilac on the very rim of the cloak.

Since I only use GW paints, and have a few purples, including the new purple Foundation paint, are there any colour schemes anybody can recommend for the cloak, remaining true to the pictures given?

Thanks for any help guys, this cloak is driving me mad! :cussing:

As far as I can recall he wears a dark green navy great coat at one point in the books but it\'s been a while since I read them so I could be wrong.

It\'s a just possibility for another colourscheme in case you don\'t have any joy with the purple

Well, as it turns out, I tried something shortly after posting, and it worked!

For future reference everybody, mixing Blood Red and Hormagaunt Purple in a 1:2 ratio gives a perfect bright purple basecoat.

Now, for the detailing on the cloak: I\'ve decided to simplify it a bit, only having one line for the border instead of two, but having lots of fancy brushwork inside the border.

I\'ll keep everybody posted as to my progress through this beautiful mini!

If its any help, i have an eisenhorn in my gallery, i actually mistook the picture with the white background for my one for a sec, but the example you posted is better than mine...

im sure i base coated with Scab red mixed with a little black, then the more highlighted area\'s are painted with scab red with a very small amount of purple in,
i believe the extreme highlights (which for the most part are not intended to pop, like on space marine armour ect) are this same mix but with some white added, they have a slightly pinkish tone and are painted only on the extream edge of the cloak.

i hope this helps, it was a fairly long time ago when i painted this.... its the only thing in my gallery cos its the only thing i have finished lol and it was a gaming mini, i have about a million work in progresses since then, one day i will finish something.

good luck and please post pics when your finished.... i have been thinking about doing another version of eisenhorn myself, i would like to get it as close to the cover of the eisenhorn novel as i can, hes a bit younger in the pic and still has his hair :D and im a bit older and might be able to paint it better this time around

;)
