Ok, so this morning I started to work on the base a little. I recently backed the Happy Seppuku kickstarter to get a bunch of rubber stamps to use for basing, bits, and dioramas. This is what I decided to use to make the base for Toad.

I started with the flagstone stamp, and mixed up some putty, I had to go back and add more, this is a big base. That is the reason for the 2 different colored putties on the base in the picture. I wet the stamp down a little and then pressed the base into the stamp for about 5 seconds. Wetting the stamp helps keep the putty from sticking and decreasing the quality of the impression. Here is a pic of the impression left on the base. It hasn't dried and hardened yet so painting will have to come later.

I plan to have toad standing in front of part of a brick wall and so I next too the standard brick stamp pattern and mixed up some more putty. I pressed the putty into the stamp starting at the bottom of the stamp so that when it hardens and I remove it from the stamp it should take minimal trimming to get a flat bottom to attach to the base. For the wall I am allowing it to harden on the stamp. when it hardens it should come right off and be ready to attach to the base. Here is a pic of the putty on the stamp, allowing you to get a look at the quality of the stamps from Happy Seppuku.

I will update later with the final hardened pieces, and then you will see them again on the final piece.
