How to make seafoam?

Hello everyone,

I\'m doing some shallow beach/shoreline bases for upcoming project. I\'ve got the sandy ocean bottom and envirotex water looking quite nice but can\'t come up with any clever way of making realistic looking \"seafoam\" to go on top of the water. I\'ve tried mixing snow effect into the envirotex but it doesn\'t look fluffy enough.

Any ideas?

I did a similar thing for my GDUK entry this year- I used my 2 part resin for the water bit, and for the surf I painted thin blobs of GW water effects onto a tupperware lid, and when this was dry I painted white speckles onto this, keeping them more denser towards one end.

I then peeled off the painted water effects blobs and glued them on with PVA glue.

Will try and get photo\'s for you up here.

That looks pretty effective actually OD :p

btw Matty - the photo resolution on your site seems to be the same as the actual thumbnails? So enlarging them doesn\'t seem to make them any easier to see... Just FYI

very nice stuff dave, would never have thought that was water effects, never in a million years, lol. how did it do anyways? my 40k single and squad didnt make finalist, but my wraithlord did, so kinda dissapointed, (did the same as last year) just wondering which resin did u use? used some a year or so back and couldnt get the mixtures right.

as with regards to the topic, id go with wot daves done, or u could go for woodland scenics\' water effects, used for moving water stuff

A brilliant dioramist said he uses a clear, water-soluble, silicone caulk for surface ripples on top of Envirotex Lite, and for seafoam he uses the white cottony part of a kitchen scrubber.

DAP Kwik Seal Plus is one such caulk, but it also comes in white so be careful to grab the correct one when you grab it from the peg in Target, Ace Hardware etc. I bought a 5.5 oz tube for about $5. It\'s tintable.

I did beer foam one time using Testors gloss coat lacquer mixed with a little water and stirred violently into foamy mess. I gently applied the foam to the beer mugs and let it dry.

I\'ll work on getting pictures.

Just had an idea...
How about some scrumpled up bits of clingfilm and splatter some white paint on that when it\'s flat, scrumple it up and then cover THAT in resin...
