How to create a festering wound?

Is there someone who has any idea how to create the effect of a festering wound? Recently I accidentally spilled some glue on one of my horse models and it somewhat gave the impression of a wound, but still wasn\'t quite what I\'m looking for. Any help is welcome.

Aha, I have experience of this!!!

Yes, definitely! The trick is to cut towards yourself with a blunt scalpel, whilst watching TV at the same time. If you drink a few lagers beforehand the effect will be enhanced.

I have achieved some quite spectacular results using this technique:bouncy:

My preferred method is having an argument (like Finn, after some booze) on the best juggler in the room. Then upping the stakes from apples to pairing knives.

No, really...

Back OT. My straight answer differs only slightly from my previous \'tongue in cheek\' response.

Best way to create a wound in miniature is to simulate what would happen in real life. ie a scalpel cut in a plastic model can look lifelike if painted appropriately. Metal models simply require a tougher knife such as a \'Stanley\'. Alternatively, ragged-edged wounds can be simulated with a Dremel power tool and appropriate cutting disc.

Do take care though \'cos I have had the pleasure of spending a New Year\'s Eve in casualty with my thumb hanging half-off simply because I followed the instructions contained in my first post.:flip:

To add on...

finn is right. I normally cut the mini (although finn the sadist luuuvv cutting himself lol ). But to create the festering effect, i putty it (Tamiya putty). Then painting in the effect.

I had one gobbo that has had a festering wound on its left cheek. I applied the putty onto the face and before it dries, using a needle, poke holes onto it. Then I painted it with pallid flesh and red gore with a tinge of green (can\'t remember what green). Basically, there\'s pus and its ooooozzing out...

Me not hungry anymore

Well I was going to go eat, but noe that read this post I think I\'m not hungry anymore. Thanks to you mouse, stupid rotten. :D
The glue is a good idea on platique models after you made a cut with a knif it makes look like its decaying. How about having a flie in the wound, never saw that befor. Would be great for a nurgle champion.

i tend to either cut the model or if i want it to look swollen and old, add some putty and cut into that. and paint with rotten flesh
