How many Tau Septs?

Let\'s say i want to paint my Tau nice and accurately.
The Codex gives a list of septs in each of the three spheres, as well as colours for several.
I\'m just wondering, is that meant to be a complete list of septs, full stop, or is that a selection of them?
If anyone who actually gets WD or something has a definite answer to that, i\'d love to hear it.

That\'s all! :)

Don\'t have the codex handy right now, but seeing as the Tau of all races are ever-expanding, doing your own sept doesn\'t seem too out there... maybe a slight variation of an existing one?

Seeing as how GW like players to invent their own SM chapters, IG regiments, and even their own Tyranid mutations I imagine the Tau and their policy of embracing other cultures and races for the greater good would allow even greater scope customisation.

Well, if they haven\'t said anything contrary, then good.
As you say, i can\'t imagine GW defining the entire scope of a race - they haven\'t done so in any other situation, after all - but much as i prefer making my own stuff up, i would get rather annoyed if i found out it was very against canon.

@DaN: Only 5 more posts to reach the magic number!

in my codex, they do encourage creation of your own. They\'re based on the home-world/home-system that that sept hail from, and seeing as how the tau race is vastly expanding, there\'s plenty of room for creation of your own!

I think you have plenty of scope in creating a new sept or developing an existing one.

I always liked the idea of fielding a Tau army with a small IG contingent as recent human converts to the Greater Good. Never struck me as against canon so I cant see why a new sept would be against it.
