Horse Tails

Hi,

I have around 30 horses to prep and prime for my GW Empire Army.

Im really not a big fan of the way the tails have been scultped on the GW Horses. I don't think they look very realistic.

Does anyone have any suggestions of ways to remake the tails?


Would hair from household paint brushes do the job? Im not sure.

personally, i am not a fan of real hair used for minis. they should be easy enough to sculpt yourself

agreed - i didnt think it was going to look right, i think it will be a green stuff job then. Those tails that come with the horses are just weird

Re-sculpting them yourself might be the only way to make them look better.

In the main, GW cannot sculpt horses for toffee (and I say this as an ex horse owner with 2000+ points of Brets). Re-sculpting may be your best answer, unfortunately.

One way would be to build up the basic shape in GS, a little smaller than your final desired size (or carve down the crap tails to make a base), then when that's cured or otherwise prepped you can cover it in a new layer of GS and carve wavy lines into it to simulate locks of hair.
