Hordes Trollblood Grissel Total Book/card Art Conversion

This is a commission from way back in early 2007 that I\'m finally getting around to sharing. For some reason, my customer didn\'t like the stock Grissel and asked that I render her as close to the book/card art as I could manage. I had several extensive conversions under my belt and felt confident enough to sculpt the entire head from scratch along with matching the rest of the pose.

The palette is also done to match the art, and that\'s why the unusual gold hues. Really like this mossy palette, especially the greens and purples in the scarf.

Here\'s a closeup, where I\'m sad to say it\'s still hard to make out the sculpted eyelashes, which were some of my favorite parts.

What do you think? Thanks!

Okay first off, I also totally dislike the Grissel model from Hordes... she\'s just kinda dumpy/frumpy looking.

Second I agree that the art work in the Hordes rule book is pretty sweet.

Third: You did an amazing Job of capturing the picture. This is a really top notch conversion. The best way i can think to praise your work here is to tell you that if my opponent put that model down across the table from me, I would assume that he had got some sort of limited ed. promo Grissel model from Privateer Press. Totally professional level job on this one. way to go.

Can\'t remember exactly. The basecoat is purplish, maybe P3 Greycoat grey (which is pretty blue) + tiny bit of GW Red Gore? Nowadays I have VGC Sombre Grey, which is a really purple grey, and would probably have used that in the mix. Highlights were probably made by adding VMC Light Grey to the basecoat.

Edit: There is some more pinkish colors added to bring life to the face. Probably some flesh tones in there, but not sure exactly what I did. I\'ve got notes for most figs I paint, but not this one!
