hello, has anyone got a suggestion of what colour to use to highlight the orc skin and if you can provide a mix recipe it would be greatly appreciated :)
ive been trying to add more yellow to my mix of green but it doesnt work out very well, peace! its pretty much orcish green skin like the colour on the package

try muting the yellow with white a bit. So you don't highlight towards a strong yellow(like badmoonyellow), but towards a light beige (like bleachedbone or deadflesh).
So what I'd use:
- some green base
- shaded with a dark green or blue 'wash'
- highlighted with more and more BleachedBone added to the base color.

But to be honest using any light greyish tones would work, even blues (SW-Grey) or reds (Elf-Flesh).

For orcs I tend to favour a mix of yellow and white as highlights. After a Dark Green moving into a bold green (that isn't pastel or too blue), moving up with the white/yellow mix is nummy. Gobbos benefit from a similar highlight, but a different green in the midtones, a more pastel shade.

From the 'Eavy Metal masterclass book i have, they work up from a black undercoat, dark green, goblin green, then add yellows and bleached bone to the mix. Very fine highlights are with more bleached bone added until its just pure bone on the highest points of light. You're on the right track but i think you need some bone colour in there aswell for highlights :)

I always used to go from a Dark Angels Green through to Goblin Green with Snot Green for highlights. This gave a real "old school" finish. Not painted any for ages, but the current trend is to use greens with more khaki colour in. What finish are you looking for?

Edit: Personally I dislike adding yellow in to highlight green flesh as it's not organic enough for my liking. GW have a good range of lighter greens now, or use a brown/beige and then into bone/ivory.

yeah, im going to try that, im painting after this recipe http://www.wikihow.com/Paint-Orks.
but since im a total newbie i dont get the steps that good, for example step 4.

Do they want me to go over the previous layer of snot green/orkhide shade mix with pure snot green or do they want me to leave an area with the previous paint in this case snot green/orkhide shade and paint a smaller area with pure snot green?

They want you to leave a tiny bit of the previous color showing and depending on how thin you make your paint and how many layers you do, the transition between the two colors can be very subtle and smooth or very stark. Generally, Tabletop rank and file troops tend to be a bit more towards the stark side as there are so many to paint, and characters usually have the transitions more smooth to make them stand out a bit more from the rank and file. This article shows it a bit better than the one you posted. Start at post 17 where he is painting the skin. Even though it is not an Ork, the principle is the same: http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/showthread.php?19054-Step-by-step-Dwarf-Hero
