Hey! Looking for some help.

Hey guys, I used to collect miniatures around 8 years ago but eventually stopped. I have a lot of spare time so I'm looking to get back in to painting.

I was just wondering if there are any places with detailed guides (from beginner to expert level as I progress) on painting?

Also, can anyone recommend any paints, brushes and other useful tools for me#?

Thanks!

Almost Perftec! Aw, crap.
Welcome back *ducks for cover from impending avalanche of advice*! I'm going to lead in with try whatever you think you might like to work with in terms of paint and brushes. I'll let others give you specifics...

.………..…and welcome back to painting.

Thanks guys.

Does anybody know of some good youtube tutorials? I find it much easier to learn when I can see it being done instead of pictures. Also does anybody have a list of paint necessary paint colours? I'm looking to order online but I don't have a clue what colours to buy so I'd have every colour at my disposal (without spending stupid amounts)

The problem with youtube tutorials is they're about as interesting as watching paint dry. There's a ton of them out there though, so just dig around. There's a ton of great advice here as well, as DR pointed out.
As for necessary paints - that really depends on what you're painting. White, Black, a few primary colors would be a bare minimum, but a lot of people like going with the triad system a few companies are producing. It gives you a shadow/base/highlight in a color, all pre-mixed.

Citadel Paints are most convenient for me to buy, but I'm really stuck on knowing what colours to get (I dont want to waste money on other colours that can be mixed with previous ones) any help?

I use a lot of citadel. Get the base ones since they cover best and can be thinned. If you like a few of the layer colors get those too but not all are necessary. the shades and glazes and edge paints are a luxury you can always decide on latter if you like.
