OK, so I got my first Rackham miniatures through the post the other day (and very nice they are too) but I know very little about the miniature’s background and the world they are from, so I’m not sure if a little scene I have come up with works.
I want to put Darkness Hunter 1 in a very Burtonesque, Sleepy Hollow styled wood, examining the Babayagob’s Wartoad as it hops through the forest. Behind him, soaring through the air unnoticed and firing off a rocket at him, I want to put the Babayagob.
I plan to make this look like a comic book panel, with a text style ‘WHOOOSH!’ sound effect sculpted up and added to the trail of the rocket, and a speech bubble for the Darkness Hunter muttering something to himself about how the toad is a clear sign of witchcraft. I may even give the toad a speech bubble saying something about how he’s just a normal innocent little toad and there’s no witchcraft in these woods to add some more humour!
This whole part of the scene’s rather inspired by the quirky approach to magic and folklore in the Hellboy comics, something I’ve wanted to do for quite a while and I think these miniatures are perfectly suited.
I realise that this is quite a departure from the way most Rackham stuff is displayed, but that’s not my concern. I just want to make sure this kind of scenario is at least feasible, because I think it’s a pretty cool set up as long as it doesn’t stray too wildly from the Rackham world.
Links to pages that discuss the world’s races and background would be great to get hold of too, so can anyone help me out?
