I would like to buy some new brushes and would like some advice on what to get. want a good brush thinking rapheal or winsor 7 but could use some input like size and quality. Paint mostly 28mm using Vallego GC,reaper master, and some cheap stuff. Any advice would be great thanks.

Also there is a good article in the articles section about brush care and selection. Or maybe it's just buying a good one? Can't remember.

Thing is if you ask people here you're likely going to get their personal favorite (I am a Raphael 8404 man all the way!) but the characteristics of each different brush as they apply to YOU will be what is important.

I would also look at what people have to say about rosemary and co. brushes as well.

My advice, for what it's worth, is to by ANY of the top end brands and go from there. If you're stepping up from synthetic brushes I think you'll initially b eblown away by the difference the quality sable makes and from their you can decide if you need a firmer brush, longer bristle or whatever. But no matter what I think you'll be pretty happy with any of them if they're your first.

All advice will be somewhat subjective due to personal perspective and preferences, mine are for W&N series 7 and or W&N Watercolour brushes.
However in terms of sizes at least one each of the following: 2,1,0,00 should be a suitable start.
Like a lot of other people I find that the 1 and 0 are the main sizes I use despite having tons of other sizes cluttering up my desk. I also find that the smaller sizes 0000, 00000, 10/0 etc.. were a wasted investment since the amount of paint they can hold in a controlable manner isn't enough to make their use worthwhile.

Thank you for all your help, advice and links will use all.I found a store online about 15 miles from my house that carries alot of the brands that I'm looking at.So as soon as my wife isn't paying attention I'm off and hopfully coming back with some new Brushes. She don't see why I need brushes when there are like 100 of them on my bench. But I tell her Hey there are only two pair of shoe's in my closet.
