Help with Blue metalics

okay, I\'ve painted a good chunk of my friend\'s Necron army in a dark metalic blue color scheme, but I\'m at a loss as how to highlight the damn things! I used black primer followed up by boltgun metal and then inked with blue ink (all GW). The paint job works great for the tabletop and has actually gotten me a few kudos, but I want to make them look even better as my friend has done a lot for me and I want to make his army stand out. Any and all help is appreciated!

I\'d try mixing Mithril with a little blue ink and then applying thin glazes on the areas you want to highlight. If you keep the layers ultra-thin you will have good control over things and can decide how far you want to go with the highlights.

Hum... Have you tried highlighting with pure boltgun metal and a mix of BM and mithril silver, then giving it a blue ink glaze?

@Galante: I assume he don\'t want to repaint all the armour, but rather apply highlights on top of what is already painted.

That sounds like it would work.

I use water with a drop of detergent. Helps if the paint has big lumpy bits.
Doesn\'t that create suds in your paint?
I almost always use some dishwashing liquid in my rinsing and mixing water, have done for years. There is a mild effect on the formation of bubbles* but it\'s not a big problem unless you\'re brushing vigorously, particularly on a textured surface.

*Also you don\'t necessarily want this if the painting you\'re doing might be helped by higher water tension.

mix midnight blue with minthril... the mor minthril u use the less blue and brighter it becomes the more lue u use the darker it becomes... atleast thats the way i think it worked when i did it!

Thanks~!

Thanks to everyone\'s advice, I\'m going to try to try it out this weekend as I\'ve a final exam this Friday and so am spending what little free time I have studying. I\'ll try taking a pic, not my best skill, but will try before and after shot s. Thanks again!
