Help please...

OK, I\'m aware of how unhelpful this is but perhaps someone can help...

I wanted to ask how the weathering was done on a set of dark green marines that were amazingly painted. However, I\'ve been away all weekend and this is the first chance I\'ve had to ask about it.

Now the problem... The only reason I found it was because it was the \'best submission from 6 months ago\' on Friday, and I remember next to nothing about the minis except that they were well painted and had awesome weathering and OSL(in particular on a plasma gun).

Can anyone help with this please? =)

Well to be honest unles someone has them in their favourites it\'s a search function on the Browse Gallery.
Doing a Search on Dark Angels lists 68 pages.
Good luck.

Well, six months ago was July and this is the only one I could find that was a decent enough score to have been in the best six months ago.

It may not have been a dark Angel, though.

EDIT: That\'s also just one marine and you said a set. Maybe these?

Not what I\'d really call a dark green but they\'re well painted, have weathering and they\'re a set.

PM the painter. I\'ve never had a PM not get responded to around here. And if it\'s a complimentary one asking him for tips I can\'t imagine you\'ll get a poor response. Those are nice marines for sure!

dip a bit of blister pack sponge into a dark brown paint, wipe off the excess and then stipple.

on the bottom of the chips paint a very pale line and within the chip a lighter brown.

it\'s one of the easiest and oldest weathering tricks used on tanks etc in historical modelling.

Thanks, I\'ve sent him a pm although I don\'t know if he will reply, that pic was the last thing he posted.

I\'ll give the stippling technique a try i think, thanks again xx

The General nailed it. I was going to say spatter tip on an airbrush, but they are not random enough for that. You can see they are concentraited around seams and wear points.

Looks like light glazes of earth colours for the general weathering (plus washes for the panel lines) and dark brown or dark grey for the chipping.

The chips look to me like they were done individually - picking and choosing where they lie, their size and shape.
