If a mod wants to they can move this post ?
As the title says, I used the primer my husband picked up and it's taking forever to dry.
The can says maximum adhesion for plastic is 5-7 days.
It's Rustoleum 2X Ultra Cover flat White Primer, and it's oil based.
The figurines I was planning to paint are resin or plastic (Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion) , and the paint I'm planning to use is the Golden brand acrylics.
Can I still use the acrylics on the oil based primer once it (hopefully) dries ?
If they're dry, can I start painting sooner than 5-7 days ?
The can says dry to the touch in one hour and second coat can be applied in 48 hours.
These are very small figurines and incredibly detailed.
I don't want to cover up the detail with primer.
I used Krylon CoverMaxx Primer, last time, and it dried very quickly.
Notice both cans are Primer only and not Primer plus paint.
According to google, the Rustoleum is on the list of preferred primers.
It's been a while and the figurines are still very sticky and wet looking.
So I used nail polish remover to remove the oil based primer. I'll let them dry over night, then can I use the Krylon water based primer over the figurines ?
There is a small amount of oil based Rustoleum primer in the small cracks of the figurines, is it ok to spray krylon over the top of them if they appear dry ?
Any advice is appreciated.
