Help me start an Eldar Army

Hey Guys,

I\'ve just come back to 40k having been on hiatus from it for about 10 years. I usually play Chaos but they\'re too boring to play now and I want to start a new army.

I like the look of Eldar, especially as Planetstrike is likely to be my game of choice, can you guys recommend me an Eldar army list to start off with?

Cake or Death?
I\'d suggest, for your basic army, two squads of Dire Avengers in Wave Serpents, and a Farseer on a jetbike. It\'s expensive, but here\'s the play:

Equip the Dire Avenger Exarchs with Direswords, Bladestorm and Defend. This gives your troops the ability to hit hard at close range or in melee. That bladestorm thing has wiped more than one of my whole squads off the table before. The wave serpents should have spirit stones so that they can keep their mobility and their cover bonus for moving all out, and bright lances to take on vehicles.

The Farseer on the jetbike gets a bonus to his toughness that is very useful, and has the ability to get to where he needs to be.

Fully kitted out, this will cost about 800 to 850 points, perfect for small games. It\'s also relatively cheap to buy, being only five boxed sets for the whole thing.

To expand, you can get warlocks on jetbikes to hit expensive enemy units, and warp spiders (maybe with an Autarch) to go after fortified enemy infantry and light tanks.

What\'s your price point? I\'m off to the gym right now, but I\'ll post again when I\'m back. In the meantime...

I play Biel-Tan Eldar - mech Eldar, when I can afford it - but it\'s hard to squeeze Aspect Warriors effectively into small-points games. Here\'s what I\'ve been tossing around in 500 points lately (with a good deal of success, mind you!).

Heavy Support - 180

War Walker, 2x Scatter Laser
War Walker, 2x Scatter Laser
War Walker, 2x Scatter Laser

TOTAL = 498

If your opponents aren\'t sticklers for points, you can give the Farseer a Singing Spear, bringing the total up to 501.

Three Guided War Walkers with 2x Scatter Lasers will make short work of most infantry units, and the Brightlances hang around to deal with MC\'s/Vehicles. It\'s a pretty balanced setup, as far as a I can tell.

July\'s issue of WD had a battle report of Planet strike using eldar, they totally kicked arse. I\'d read that article for inspiration, it really helped me :)
