Hello and Stuff.....!

Hello! I'm Kharsin and fairly new here (I've only got one post) I mainly haunt the forums over at Reaper, and have just started to venture out beyond there to here and to WAMP. I'm trying to see what's all out there and gain more experience in painting. I started in November of last year, and am having a blast! I suppose I fall more on the artistry end of miniatures as I don't really game (other than a very dedicated Munchkin group that ends up using my minis..) but I really enjoy painting. Anyway, just wanted to say hey and that I hope to make some new friends, find inspiration, and grow in my ability of all things miniature.

Welcome! I think you've come to the right place. I'd say a large portion of the people on this forum would describe themselves more as painters than gamers. WAMP is another nice site (I'm on there too) but that community is a bit smaller than CMoN.

When you get a chance, I highly recommend looking through the 'Work in Progress and Project Logs' section of the forum. There are a lot of people with long running threads showing their work. Great for inspiration and picking up tips and tricks on how they do what they do. I think almost everyone on here is friendly and happy to share information, so post your questions and comments in the WIP threads that catch your eye. If you feel up to it, start your own thread too. You'll see there are plenty of other beginners so don't be intimidated by the more seasoned painters. A work in progress thread is probably one of the best ways to get feedback and improve your skills.

What sort of figures do you paint? A little bit of everything or is there a certain genre or subject that you prefer?

Wow! Thank you for the warm welcome! Ironically we were just discussing the OSL on that "Lost In The Dark" piece today over on the Reaper board! It really is a beautiful piece and definitely something I'm aiming to achieve... someday! LOL!

I paint mostly fantasy figures, although we did just have a SciFi contest over on Reaper (managed to luck out and place 3rd) I love assembling dioramas, and occasionally use what I've painted with friends when we play Munchkin. If you want to take a look at what I've done so far, I have a link to my "portfolio" over on the Reaper site. I'm essentially just branching out to make new contacts and learn more about the hobby.

I'm definitely going to check things out around here. It takes me awhile to learn where everything is on new forums, but I'll definitely be doing some digging as there really are some amazing pieces on here.

Thank you for taking the time to say hey! It's an honor chatting with such a talented artist! :cute:

Hahaha, yes, we have a resident goblin over on the Reaper forum that eats paint. And ten ball, I saw that Finari diorama you did way back when I started painting. It is beautiful! How you guys manage to pack so much detail into such a tiny space is beyond me. I'm seriously going to have to get to a few conventions or something to improve! I think I'm in the right place though! LOL!

Hey there and welcome...
Post your work in the work in progress forum bit and you'll have people giving you advice and such. In the US there is afew more conventions to get to that can help you improve too.

Just stay clear of threads with Bar in the the title ;)

Again, thank you all for the welcome. I'm somewhat in between projects right now (more of an experiment actually), but when I start back up with normal projects, I'll be sure to post here as well.
