How can i \"revive\" GW paints that are about 3 yrs old, mine seem a bit heavy and i dont know if I should use water or some paint thinner. Thanks in advance!

Water worked well for me. Just make sure you mix it up real good.

I\'ve never tried using anything other than water. Never seen the need to, and I\'ve brought back GW paints with just water that were around 5 years old.

Thanks gohkm, thats what i thought but didn\'t want to ruin them, since there are no GW stores or distribuitors near where I live. If i did ruined them it would be quite a while before I could get new paints.

Couldn\'t you order them online or something? That\'d save you from hunting down a bricks-and-mortar affair.

I can get them online but im tight for money at the moment. I was able to get them into the right consistency but the Chaos Black was a bit dry.

New sub-genre in metal: Heavy Paint!!! Its lighter than heavy metal, but heavier than hard rock! Who knew paint could be this heavy!

That is what I had in mind when I clicked on this thread. But yes, water works, so does Diluter/Retarder, it works awesome.

I never have any luck with water however that does not stop me from trying. I normally put in a couple drops of water and then use the non bristle end of my paint brush to stir in the water with the paint. Once it is mixed I take the blob of water paint that is stuck to the end of my brush and I place it on my palatte to paint with. Although I think doing this causes the paint in the pot to dry out faster.

Add a bit of white metal sprue or a glass bead to help with the shaking/mixing. Works like the agitator in a spray can.

(Reaper puts a skull in each paint pot for that reason)

Water a few drops at a time with a marble in the pot and shake the heck out of it.

Glass marble preferred.

Does not work when you have already added Future Floor Finish to the paint pot as a flow medium because the FFF won\'t reconstitute. :(

Don\'t ask....

The marble shouldn\'t break the paint pot and should move around well enough in the old screw-off pot to help speed up the process of mixing while pulverizing the semi-hard paint.

Just add about 3~4 drops of water as you go to get it to the right consistency and you won\'t over thin it.

If you fear the lid leaks, then put some masking tape around it to help hold the water from getting all over the place.

Suggest making the marble spin around the pot rather than from top to bottom for best mixing.

Thanks for the suggestion Shadzar was already able to recover my paints and start painting again. I also dropped a couple of old GW bits like arms that I made sure was never going to need
