Head stubble

hi all, am trying to improve my overall ability on painting heads faces etc and wondered if anyone had a
\"how to...\" for head stubble

Mix black or brown with a little white so it\'s not too much darker than the basic skin colour. Blend this grey/brown tint with your skintones and layer it on carefully, paying particular attention to the transition if you don\'t want sharply-defined edges.

You\'ll often find that very light glazes of a skintone on top of this will highlight it nicely.

It\'s not really that hard, just takes a bit of practice until you get something you\'re satisfied with. If you\'re worried about it try the technique on a scrap metal mini that you can strip and repaint (good idea generally for experimentation).

thanks for the advice, will post a piccie on when ive done, wanted to try this for a while as IMO it really finishes off a model

Not bad. Looks like a real short hair cut.
It looks fine as is but if you are going for really short stubble you could give a slightly lighter shade a go next time. If he had stubble in real life you would be able to see some skin through the hair lightening the colour considerably. Some dilute skin washes could knock the darkness back too as has been suggested.

aye looks good. vary the amount of brown you add to give some variation to different heads and i think you have it!
