Having problems with the voting system

Hi,

I just recently registered after browsing the site a couple of times.

Now when I give my vote for a miniatur on the left side of the screen it just loads another site with a complete different mini.

So I thought that to be normal but now I checked back on the mini I voted on and my vote was not counted since the vote counter didnt go up by another vote.

So what am I doing wrong, some help would be appreciated since I feel bad just browsing the galleries without giving any votes.

The pages are cached for a short time period. So, it takes a while until you get a new, updated page. If you go back later and check, you will see your vote being there.

When you vote it should show your vote on the right side of the screen, the average vote for the mini, etc.

It changes the page to a new mini to vote on.

So as long as after you vote, you see the part saying your vote X Average Y and the other number under the mini you just voted on in its little area on the side, then your vote counted.

Also when you browse a gallery, it will take some time to show your vote when in \"yet to vote\" mode.

That is an easy way to make sure you voted.

Hide scores in your user settings, then browse the artist gallery using the \"yet to vote\" option, or any method using \"yet to vote\", and when the mini disappears form the list, your vote has been counted.

So you aren\'t neglecting those people, it just takes time for the server to register and recalculate the votes with MANY users, and over 100k images in the gallery.

Really? I have seen it working in all browser I use and the page only missed showing the vote result when due to broken image for the next image it displays, or when there is a general gallery failure.

It works in IE 6-, and firefox 3-, as well Opera (version unknown)

I didn\'t know some browsers didn\'t show the result of your vote. :redface:

I don\'t know if it is due to the browser or something else, but I don\'t see it in Firefox 3.0.12 at work, whereas in IE7 on the same computer it works.

Yeah slow Database aktualisation was my guess as well.
I was just a bit confused why it allways loaded a new mini after voting.

This change was impltemented a few years ago to decrease the number of calls to the database, due to the site having become very slow.

This is how the site have worked as long as I\'ve been aware of it.
