Having Eye Problems...realy afraid!!

Hey all,

Just wanted to share this with you guys because well I think everyone here would understand my fear.
For the past few weeks I have been having eye problems. Well in the past 72 hours my eyes have gotten worse. Last night driving home in the dark I could barley see. Everything is blurly and I have to strain to see just about anything. I am still able to paint, sort of but I have to keep refocusing.
I don\'t think it is my glasses as I just got a new pair last year and my perscription only went up a small ammount.
The best part is I no longer have any kind of insurance as I just quit my job.
So I need everyone to pray for me. Thanks.

I hope everything is allright...but seeing how this is already June, a new prescription is probably in order...

You really need to see someone about it, in case it is something worse than just a changing of prescriptions.

i\'ve had my fair share of recent eye problems too, so i\'m there with you.

many people no longer drive at night, just try to make sure whatever you do during the day is in well lit areas. then make sure to rest in the evenings, don\'t push yourself.

it may be something temporary......like the retinal infection i got, but maybe not. so get yourself checked out and look after those peepers.

i\'ll throw in a little shout for you when i say my daily piece to the man upstairs tonight.

get better soon!

You should get your eyes seen by a professional. I think blindness may be my 2nd biggest fear.

In addition, get some rest. Stress can cause eye problems. The most common is probably a muscle twitch in the eyelid. I’ve had that one a couple of times. Eye strain can also cause problems though fortunately they are temporary. I once stayed up all night playing computer games, then did it again the next day. For a couple of days after that my eyes would occasionally go dark for a fraction of a second. I made myself not look at a computer for the weekend and I was fine again.

Mate, I recently had an eye test done because I kept getting headaches and fuzzy vision, I thought that after sixteen odd years of painting something had to give sooner or later, so I had the test, my eyes are fine, in fact my vision is excellent, the problem the optician said was due to the fluids in my eyes, apperently I wasnt drinking enough or I was but the wrong thing ie. tea and coffee, she told me that I would not get \"optic migraines\" if I drank just water and lots of it, at least a pint every hour, apperently its something to do with how the eye as an organ recycles the fluids and the best thing for that is plain old tap water, stimulants and fizzy pops are best avioded for they do contain chemicals which are harmful to the eyes, such as aspartame and other nasty preservatives, to much acid is also bad for your peepers too, errr... not that I\'m dropping acid all day you understand :) good luck with your test, it\'ll turn out to be nothing I\'m sure.

I\'m going to chime in with the folks suggesting you get your eyes checked despite the lack of insurance. I do understand the money concerns, but I think there are some eye conditions that aren\'t serious if treated promptly, but can cause lasting damage if left untreated.

I am going tomorrow reguardless of money. That was not going to be an issue, it was just one of those things that made me say \"why me?\" Heck I will take debt over blindness anyday. On the bright side being blind would mean I never have to date an ugly chick again, or better yet I never have to see the Cubs loose.
It seems my dark vision and far away vision are being affected.

Are you diabetic? That can really mess with your eyes as well. After 5 years my eye sight had bearly changed but after haveing a diabetic episode that put me in the hospital my eyesight has worsened by double. Insurance or not, get then checked just to be safe. Hopefull it\'s a temp thing and nothign major.

Diabetes affects vision, have you had excessive thirst, or an excessive need to urinate? ( both signs of too much sugar in your blood)

I found out just last month that I now have it. Any other symptoms?

I am diabetic. I have been so for the past 4 years. I do not take care of myself and I know it will eventully lead to problems. (I am 27 now I expect to be dead by I am 50 anyway). The thing is I have had it where my sugar has been realy high, I mean with the frequent urination and what not, but I also know to cut down on the snacking when that occurs. I have not had that here. But I also know my sugar intake has been fairly high as of late since I am off for the summer.

Oh man please, take more care of yourself. Life is to be lived, as long and as healthily as possible.

I have a Cousin and a Colleague both Diabetic, of who take a damn site more care of their health than I do.
I know that Retinal Damage is one of the more serious issues that Diabeties can cause as my Cousin has lost the sight of one eye. But not taking care can also cause to arterial problems leading to Gangrene and loss of limbs.

Get checked out ASAP!

Dude man, no... you really need to take control of your diabetes. I\'ve been in your place, the frequent urination, dry mouth, uncontrolable thirst, all of it. I chalked it all up to anythign but diabetes but once my Glucose hit 400 and i had a diabetic seizure that was it man. I can tell the damage that did to my eyes and i would rather not go blind or lose fingers or toes. It\'s a life style change that is for sure but you don\'t have to give up the snacking, just control when and how much. Regardless, if your diabetic vision problems are a very big risk so you should have your eyes looked at. Keep us posted when you do. Oh and are you checking your blood sugers? If you need it i have a spare glucose monitor.

BW, I never planned to live to see 30. Now, I am 47 and a daddy and seriously wish I had taken better care of my body. You gotta watch you sugar levels. If you can control it just via diet, wonderful. If it requires insulin, then so be it. Failure to take care of that will result in some very nasty side effects (blindness being one of them). This is not a thing that someone can do for you. You have got to take control of your intake and health. Exercise - simply walking is a wonderful way to help the body out.

Get it cared for before the damage becomes permanent.

Ok I went to the Eye doctor sort of. Actully I went to check with the Optomotrist at Sears. He says there has been a change in my eyesite but not enough to warrant getting new glasses or to freak out.

He says there does not seem to be any damage to the eye, normaly if it was related to my dibetes there would be blood behind the eye and he did not notice that.

In the past 48hrs I have changed my diet and started to take my medicine regualry, I still don\'t feel 100% but I am going to give it some time. I know from expereince w/ my mother and her problems that led to her death (yeah you think I would get it huh?) if he doctor was to hospitalioze me he would just monitor what I was eating and constantly test me. Sorry I would rather be at home then in a hospital.
