Hate upgrade too powerful?

After playing a couple games there's definitely a trend starting. I mostly play 3 and 4 player games and have noticed it's tough to score with the ball. Whenever someone has hate upgrade they tend to runaway with the score. I don't get why hate is only costs 2 while the upgrade that gives you points for a successful tackle (I forget the name ) costs 3. Hate just seems overpowered because you get points for damage OR killing someone, and you usually end up with the most kills which gives you even more points. Any thoughts ?

Make sure that in a 3 or 4 player game (actually all games) the person spends more than the 2, bid that bad boy up. Plus you could make it where the person really has to decide if they want Hate or to be able to buy a ringer. If the player gets hate for less then 7 or 8 in a 3 or 4 player game then the other players didn't do their job.

I do feel this is poorly designed. I hate the idea of "taking a hit for the team" and that is often how this feels. Especially in situations where your team won't benefit from Hate as much as the opponent. I don't think it would be insane to say that players get a point for a successful attack instead of damage/kill in a four player game. But of course this would be a house rule.

Slightly OT, but a killer combo for Hate is with the Samurai. While I dominated scoring mounds and got the kill bonus my Samurai opponent was busy telling the truth and getting some damage in. I was a single point ahead at the half.

More OT, there quite a few killer combos that T-Bone's self-healing makes possible. When you see something that good you have to make them pay through the nose. Hopefully that means they'll overspend, cheat less, or take the penalty for cheating and not having the cash to prevent it.

Played a great game with two of my kids yesterday. We've been trying new teams and I'm on a mission to win with each team (so far Ogres, Trolls, and Zombies). My oldest son was the Daemons and of course he wanted Hate. I ended spending 11 of my $13 on Hate and Hardy (I could only play one and chose Hardy). Keeping Hate away from him was the difference in the game.
