HATE the new format!!!

So, some of you will remember me from many years ago. I haven't been painting since I moved out of my old house; I just don't have a good place to do it these days.

Anyway, I logged back in after being gone for so long, & what do I find? Jumping Juggernauts, the site has become freakin' Las Vegas! I feel like I walked into an old favorite hangout only to have a firehose shoved up my butt & pumped full of advertising! Maybe the change isn't so shocking to folks who've been here all along, but I gotta say, the change is pretty disturbing. The thing that made this site great in the first place is COMPLETELY GONE! Whatever happened to, oh I dunno, popping a random mini on the screen & asking the viewer, "What about this miniature? Is it COOL or NOT?" Frankly, I'm really disappointed. (Can you tell?)

Since this is your second post, um, no I can't recall ya really at all!

Havent really notice any ads, but I pony up as a supporter, and think those get turned off for me.

Changes happen I suppose. New forum took quite a bit of getting used to. Voting is still there, green button top right on main page. And I rarely get to the main page anyway.

I have (or had) *thousands* of posts in these forums before everything was turned upside down & repainted with racing stripes. It's just that the main emphasis of this site used to be looking at other people's models, & being shown a random model every time you arrived at the site. Now, clearly the main emphasis is on selling models. I understand why these changes took place, but it's a real drag for people who know what this site originally was.

The ads are a necessary evil to pay for the upkeep of the site... which I'm guessing has grown quite a lot since you were last here. As Pegazus points out ... you can pay a small fee to be a supporter and not get bothered by them.

Voting IS still a big part of the site, it hasn't "completely gone", far from it.....check out the number of mini posts..... coming up on 200k. Click on the green button or just browse - click on an image and start voting..easy.

Yes the format has changed over the years, some like it - others not so much...but it's still much the same and people still keep joining... the count is nearly up to 9,000 members. It may not be to all tastes but CMoN is still popular. Long live CMoN

I'm getting over the shock of it, I guess. It's not that I mind ads. I guess it's more that the CMON store has more or less taken over the homepage. I can understand the changes; it makes sense, I guess. Yeah, CMON is still the best site for miniatures. Sorry for the outburst.

No, no, no. He needs to pay. I say report to the women of The Freak Bar. That'll learn 'em!

C'mon, guys, be nice to the poor chap. He's been away on hiatus, he'll never survive the whips and chains and what-not that the Freak Bar is famous for ...

welcome back TKP. to a degree, i agree with you. the focus seems much more geared to selling things in the CMON store, as opposed to the balanced coverage it used to provide for many minis companies. for that reason i troll here a lot less than i used to, and i have moved on to other pastures for conversation about the hobby.
that being said, there are still a lot of familiar faces, and the boards are as friendly as ever.

Welcome back.
As with all change you'll get used to it.

Look to the top if the pages there's a Search Thread function in the menu.
