first one painted.
As far as converting, Not too hard, Just 6 simple steps. I\'d probably give it a 6-7 for difficulty. No pinning or scratch building anything difficult.
1- Cut off the dorsal fin. Then cut off the tail right after the scales.
The head was three steps and since all the parts are on top of one another I split them up into 3 parts.
2- Making the crest in place of the dorsal fin. this was fidgety a bit. I basically rolled out a little triangle and put it on the back of their heads, then spread it forward over their heads, and then pulled it down around their neck. You just have to tweak it a little after that. I like to leave a rib down the center, which isn\'t a trait that was on actual chameleons, but I liked it on the old metal temple guard.
3- Making the chin. I just rolled out a thin snake of greenstuff, stuck it on it\'s chin, made sure met all the edges, then put 2 dimples on each side under the jawline bushing it down into kind of a throat bag.
4- eyes are just tiny balls of greenstuff stuck over the eye sockets. Gently push them in a bit in at the edges of the skink\'s origional eyes, and reshape the eyes. Finally poke a hole in the center of each sphere eye.
Lastly was making the tail pretty easy took a few tries to get he thickness right.
5- For the tails I rolled out a few snakes of greenstuff making them taper at the end, then curled them into little circles, some of them completely looping, others just making 3/4th circle for variation.(I used surgical gloves to keep finger prints out of the greenstuff and let them dry on a sheet of wax paper)
6- glue on the tails and use a little greenstuff to fill in any gaps that may show up. It\'s pretty hard to guess-timate the diameter and shape of the plastic tail stump when rolling out your new tails.
wah-lah. Done.
I may wind up making 2 more to round out a unit of 10 after I see how they play. Right now there\'s only points for 8, but I may strip out a magical item for the other 2. If I do, I\'ll actually write out a tutorial then.
