I got my foundation paints today and wow....
They\'re amazing, when have you ever done !DARK GREEN! on a white undercoat in 3 coats?!
I haven\'t done anything much yet, i have just been mucking about but from what i have seen so far they will change army and top standard figure painting for the better.
I wasn\'t going to get any but then i tried some and wow...reserved the last pack at Warhammer World
As well as them being great for advanced or at least seasoned painters, they are great for first timers. They have named in such a way that if you know at least a little of the background and whatnot you will know what paint to use \"fenris grey\" and \"sept ochre...or something\" i mean who would know to go for \"shadow grey\" and \"vomit brown\" for gods sake?????
Overall very impressive and im sorry for the people who have to wait 3-4 month to get hold of some. Well worth the thirty squids for 18.
Well i\'ve drivvled on for long enough but i just thought you\'d like to know.
Any more questions will glady be answered but for now im going to bed..

the only thing i don\'t like is the names, can\'t get used to them. also, would like a colour chart with how they slot into the rest of the range. being colour blind, i am really struggling with some of them :( anyone know of an online chart that does that??

getting mine next week, would get them today, but i have to watch my dad and his mates bet on horses. The foundation paints are awesome! yellow in one coat over black, rather that re undercoat white, 4 layers of yellow the shade.
p.s gretchin green is light green, ork hide is dark, freakin a cage, thats all i remember.

They have that in the latest WD (at least the Australian version)

As well as that link to the GW website, WD #328 has suggestions for shades and 1st & 2nd highlights for each of the Foundation paints. Hopefully that can help you Freakinacage.

I got mine on wednesday and have managed a quick play with them. I\'m impressed with the coverage and love the more natural colour range too. My only disapointment is that they didn\'t come with lid labels. As I keep all my paints in a shallow box I find these invaluable. Hopefully GW will include a sheet in a copy of White Dwarf soon like they did with the main range a while ago - hint hint ;)

Me too, i have all mine like that but i can remember which ones are new and haven\'t got them. Oh well, i\'ll just have to keep them separate :D

One thing i did notice was that washes aren\'t great with them, they go all grainy and wierd; same with thin coats.
Although i only just got them, it\'s hard to get the consistency right but i guess it will just take practice.:)

Nick B. if your out there JOIN!!!:D

I had a quick try of a couple of colours yesterday at Salute, and they were ok over black, but I don\'t think it will change my undercoating preference of white to be honest. A trial of a wash with one of the brown colours didn\'t flow very well for me, but I spose I\'m used to using Vallejo\'s and inks there.

I had a look at some of the other colours over black, and don\'t expect all of them to go on in one coat, the yellow definately looked to me as if it will take two.

I quite liked the sandy/bony colour though

Have to agree there - but since it usually takes me about a million coats usually I can live with two! lol

I am not sure what you guys and girls mean when you say you used them as a wash, I have used them super thin to apply shading with no problems, Actually found it sped up this process as well since the pigment is so strong.

Run a file over the lid and then paint it with the colour, works wonders plus you get a fairly true colour of what it is going to look like when it drys :D

ditto, labels are for pansies.

Who needs labels when you have a super anal system whereby you put all ~130 paints you own back in a specific order so you can grab one without really having to look up from what you\'re doing? :p

You can fit 130 paints in your anus? I wouldn\'t describe that as super in any way, but different strokes for different folks! lol

i was just looking at wd 328 and honestly i am not impressed at all. especially that piece of crap expose on painting a black orc. my 4 year old could paint better than that. and he has.

anyhoo. sorry but painting almost exclusively like gw is trying to dowith these paints is a bit too much for me.

well to be fair GW use two examples of basic blocking in of troopers using the new paints but also show you can take it further as well using normal paints.

I did use just the foundation paints to paint a goblin trooper up quick in store and it worked fine.

they are one more useful tool - let\'s not ask them to solve all problems
One tech question: I haven\'t tried my personal thinner-)water with them yet (distilled water plus retarder plus flow aid)
does it seem they react to these product the same as regular paints?
