Guardians of Aasgard - Wolves

Alrighty, so in time for this B&C online painting comp. I decided to finally start out a Space Wolves army.
With me being Swedish with viking blood in my veins I've always wanted to do them, and now they have neater models than before so why not?

I've started off with just a regular squad of 10 grey hunters (with one being a wolf guard for more awesome weaponry)

I really unlike the horrible steampunkish hairstyles that GW gave these fellas (along with the occasional hobo look), how to solve this? why with green stuff of course!

So I haven't gotten any painting done yet, just some starting hair overhauls and general posture changes to some models...
They are not on bases yet because I want them in semi-deep snow and I need to get supplies for that ^^,

Anyway, enough rambling, here's the first 6 (the rest will be done modeled by Wednesday I hope):

So, what input do you guys have thus far?
The wolf guard with dual wolf claws have frizzy hair, I know... It will be smoothed out later ;)
I'm still learning to really do cool things with green stuff (for someone who's been into the hobby since 2nd edition it feels like I should've learned earlier... right? :p)

C&C wanted and appreciated...

oh more vikings how sweet (we try to keep the impression at this forum that all swedes are blue-eyed vikings... or goths) :beerwave:
honestly i dont really not how they look original but think youve done a fairly good job sir.

I like these fellows! (More Vikings to the people! :D ) Are you going for the standard scheme for them or do you have anything else in mind?

(I'm pretty much the Swedish stereotype, I'm 2.01 meters tall and have long blonde hair and blue eyes, so for me it works at least :p)

I do have another scheme in mind, I'm going to be using green (nono, no gobling or dark angels green here :p), more specifically catachan green mixed with some brown and grey to get it not so green but more down to a natrual greenish brown.

then I will most likely have greenish yellow details (like the kind of "art" you'd see on ceremonial viking weapons as well as on runestones, etc.)

Oh and of course they'll all get viking names, in real old futhark instead of the fake way GW have inscribed "Fenris" on one with futhark for example :p

I refuse to call that text futhark. XD It's merely an edgy alphabet. :D

As far as Swedish stereotypes go, I'm not that tall(1.70, damn you're a full head with interest taller than I am! :D) but I've got very blue eyes and dark blonde hair. XD

well, some of it is futhark, some isn't, they just use it soo wrongfully :p

the way they have it "Fenris" really means A (X) H R I S

(x) = non existent letter in either of the two Futhark :p

Actually, there are four Futharks, the Germanic, The younger (exists in two versions: the Danish and Short twig (Swedish/Norwegian)), the Staveless and the Medieval Futhark (though the Medieval Futhark isn't really a Futhark since it uses the 'alphabetical' order).
But that letter still remains a mystery! :D

Using the Germanic Futhark the 'a' is more of an 'Ä' though. ^^

More stuff inbound!
Have gotten more work done now during the morning...

I know it's hard to extinguish but all the GS isn't his hair, a huge chunk och it is the wolf's pelt (the wolf whose skull rests on his right shoulder)

This is on a different space wolf (obviously :p) but I'm not satisfied so I'll try a thin rope approach rather than the thicker band approach sown here:

Got one more done now before I had to run out to do all the stuff needed to be taken care of today. Will hopefully get more up tonight.

Was real tricky to not have the green stuff break when doing the twisting since it had to be so thin to fit into the hole :p

I'm waay happier with this than the previous result:

I found Inquisitor Lord Coteaz in my bitz box, having only used his thunder hammer for my Ultramarines captain many years ago I realized that i wanted to make him a Wolf Priest (To use in lower point games mostly).
He is my tribute to one of the most awesome characters in the Swedish TV series "Hem Till Midgård" ("Back Home In Midgaard" in English), the character "Gammelman" ("Old Timer" in English), he's the village's Shaman (or Wolf Priest one might say)..

Here's a short clip; he's the one in the middle

(I just noticed that you can't really tell, but I have actually removed all =][= iconography from him, so there will be no need to mention that part :p)

Input is, as always, appreciated and encouraged.

looks familiar ^_^

Argh!
I was planning on filling his cape with fur like yours.. >_<

Now I have to go with some horrendously time-consuming rune scripts and symbols by freehand instead...

Nice conversions so far!
Oh and this is absolutely necessary:

Of course it was ;)
But so was also this when you posted that:

Now Müller, I command you to enter the Swedish miniature painters group here! I don't want to be the only rocker in the group! :rotfl:

And how do I do that? :p
(phreak0 is also a metalhead, but he's mighty busy with his school stuff all day long :( )
