I typically build 1/24 scale automotive models, but I also enjoy sci-fi. I picked this up at the local gaming store yesterday and hopefully should be fun.

I hope that you do something different not the codex look. I cant wait to see what you do.

Honestly, I'm not a gamer. The box art is what drew me to the kit, as I like the color scheme. I presume that's the codex look which I will disappoint you with. :smile-big:

I spent the evening watching An American Werewolf In London and building sub-assemblies and trying to develop a game-plan. I'm still kind of new to the whole figure painting genre from other modeling. Any words of advice to painting the parts before assembly?

Ive never build one so I cant be much help there. Sorry man. I say slap the sum bich together & let the paint flow. if you miss a spot just say its a shadow. Man I was really hoping that you were going to pull out some crazy car colors. Oh well. Im sure its going to be awesome.

LOL You never know. I'll give it wings and model it after a 59 Caddy & paint it pink! LMAO It's still a wip and I haven't laid paint down yet. Maybe flames or rust...

Hell yeah that sounds awesome. True flame would be kick ass but rust is a bit over done i think.

I dont think rust would suit this model to be honest, not that I know much about it. I can guess though its the type of bad ass thing that gets shined and looked after. I would go for HEAVY battle damage if you are going to do something slightly different. I mean melt the bitching parts with a lighter - like its taken some serious heat from heavy weaponary. Chuck it into a battle diorama with its antagonist. That would be very nice, if a bit more work than you intended!! Just my suggestion.

I decided to push my airbrush's limits tonight and lay down some fire on this thing. The black will contrast and take away from the overall silver/metal look and give the whole thing some more definition.

A bit more progress. I am still trying to get all of the metal colors to separate when looking at it with shading and highlights etc. I tried a new technique using blue to give it that cold/heated steel look on parts. Slybarbaeu the flames were done with my automotive urethanes I used for helmets etc. and my H&S Infinity airbrush - red, orange, red candy, yellow, orange candy, white, yellow candy.
