Green stuff vs Tamiya epoxy?

I've never used Green stuff before but I use Tamiya epoxy (the quick type) and I found it very sticky. I have to keep using water to prevent tools from sticking, and even then small tufts keep getting dragged out, especially when I'm doing really fine parts like fingers. Is Green Stuff better, and in what way?

Green stuff is usually not quite as sticky as Tamiya putty but of course, you -can- get it just as sticky through using more yellow but that much isn't necessary. It does still stick to your tools unless you wet them and according to Murphy when you absolutely least need it.

I wouldn't say green stuff is "better" than Tamiya putty, both have their uses but personally I find Green stuff to be slightly more responsive when sculpting though that can be an opinion formed through subjectivity.
Oh, and it only takes two-three hours to cure, whether that's a good or bad thing is entirely up to you.

Have you tried playing with the proportions to see if you can reduce this? Most epoxy compounds are a little forgiving when it comes to varying the amounts of A and B (some are very forgiving) and if you use more hardener than resin the putty will tend to become less sticky as well as smoother and/or a little stiffer.

Either instead of this or in addition definitely test out some alternatives to water to lubricate your tools - saliva, moisturiser, conditioner, dishwashing liquid and of course talc are all worth experimenting with and IMO all of them are better than water. I'm not in favour of using oily lubricants for sculpting generally but vegetable oil or petroleum jelly are worth a shot too.

If you want to try something else that's very much not of the too-sticky type then I'd highly recommend MagicSculp, and it's relatively inexpensive too (large pack sizes available).

Milliput is pretty useful too since its water soluble and the Milliput white (which is the fine grade one) can be sculpted into some pretty sharp/crisp edges. Still has its downsides though
