Hi guys Just wondering how everyone else is doing on their entries? Here is the sculpt for my large model. I'm painting him right now. Nothing like waiting til the last min. to get things done lol. I will post wip of the painting later this week when my new photo light cube (squeee) gets here. Hoping that helps my pics quality some till I can get a new camera. I'm going to try to get at lest one more thing done before next weekend but I doubt it will happen :(

I like your sculpt at all out of the shoulder pads. Those seems to be a bit too large for the model. It`s maybe just me thinking about this, who cares? ;)

Really nice idea to use strings to keep those armor together!

Wish you good luck and happy painting!

Lol someone in my gallery said too small for the pads. Thank you for the complements. I am very pleased with how the paint is spreading on him. I can't wait to post more pics soon and see how he does next weekend ^_^

He is PERFECT, DVS! Fabius is my favorite Chaos character, and I think you captured his personality perfectly. The sneer, the arrogant eyes... you nailed it. You can tell by looking at his face that he will always be staring at a point a couple of inches above your head, and if he deigns to notice you at all it will be on the same level as you noticing an ant.

My buddy is a World Eaters player, and has a huge thing for Kharn. I'm going to copy an email below that I sent to him explaining why Fabius is just a badass. This is also why I'm excited to see this. Can't wait to see it painted.

***

Say what you will about Abaddon and Kharn; yeah they're scary, and Lucius is good old fashioned nightmare fuel, but I think the downright freakiest person in the Chaos book is Fabius Bile. This is a guy who has turned whole worlds into shambling horrors, created the Noise Marines (who are pretty awesome) and does enough medical experimentation to make Ork Mad Doks go "dat just ain't right." Not only that, but he now has pure warp energy pumping through his veins instead of blood. And he wears a lab coat made of human skin.

Plus, he decided to stop worshipping the Chaos Gods because "they have no more to offer him."

THAT is someone to be afraid of.

@ Skelettes Thanks ya I actually moved them in some from the original design I had. He is a project that got started then sat for a while. I plan to do him again soon but as a full 54mm I will sculpt that one to cast a few ^_^ The wires on this one would not take a mold well :(

@ Prophecy07 I happen to own a company of Worldeaters some what painted even lol Army I started with and the one I will love forever. Kharne will be some to follow in 54mm I love the running pic in the books but will actually pose it in a way that is possible to stand lol. With that said I agree Bile is one nasty SOB and quite possibly my all time fav model from the chaos line I so miss the hallucinogen effects his gun use to have. Also I noticed after sculpting him he kinda looks like Vego! lol.

NICE! Sculpt! Painting is coming along well too :) remember when buying the camera it is not the megapixels (5MP should be plenty) but the lens that matters! A high quality lens is the most important thing! And a good macro function is great in mini painters cases as well!

Ok so I got my photo cube and lights and here is how the pics are looking now :) Still need to play with my camera settings a little more but over all I love how the top pic came out. Though I think photobucket might be cutting the quality some as the pic looks a little more grainy then the original might just be my camera though. As for the model I need to bring up the NMM on the shoulders some more and the body is done. Back pack is half sculpted and will be finished in the next few hours. On track to only be doing a few touch ups Friday. Yea I will get sleep this year before Games Day I don't know how I will handle that lol.

I think you need to increase the depth of shadow tones on the skin coat. It's looking a little to "samey".
You may want to think about altering at least one of those panels to show a differing skin tone as well.
As for the metal work/trim on the shoulder pads, you need to pick up the highlights more as they look a little flat.

Keep on that nice work mate!

On the first picture I thought: "Uh, where`s the NMM he s talking about?" But on the 2nd picture you could imagine that you re going to do this. I think you need to strongen the shadow areas for your NMM there.

I also think that the shadow of the pink shoulderpads could be a bit more intensive.

Just some advices running through my head when i ve seen your pics.

What colours are more to real life, first or second picture?

A little from the first and some from the second. I really need a new camera I can't seam to get a proper color depth lol. I will remedy that in a couple of weeks.

The NMM is still in progress on the star shoulder and the flesh is pale which seams to be washing out some in the photo I will added a little more shading though. Thanks so much for the help guys :)

Ugh! I just test fitted the backpack and it's to small >.< so time to redue it this time from scatch I was trying to cheat and bulk up the one from the inquisitor scale marine.

Added the shading as recommended and he is really popping now. I'm still sculpting on the backpack which should be done around noon (eastern time) Dam you first pack for being to small. Also my full spectrum light burned out on me last night >.< So all in all should be done today but there will be no sleep for me, I'm still up from yesterday. I will post pics around lunch time. Thanks for the help and insiring words guys they are helping keep me going ^_^

I know this is a littel late, but I haven´t seen this thread before now.

I like the individual parts, but I think when put together they are mismatched in size. I think this is why some are saying the pads are too big while some are saying they are too small.

If you use the head as a yardstick, then the torso should be a lot bigger. The torso is maybe even too small even if he wasn´t wearing bulky ceramic(?) bodyarmor - he is a genetically altered super soldier after all, so he´s packing some serious mass. When up-sizing the torso the pads also needs to get bigger, but because the torso atm. is on the small side, the pads (undersized as they are) actually looks like they are too big.

I know all of this is academic because you´re just about finished with the project, but I figured it might be relevant with another future project :)

It looks good btw - even if I make it sound like it doesnt :p
