Gold NMM on Templar Crosses/SM Shoulder Pad rims

I\'m currently working on my Emperors Champion, and I want to make him stand out from my basic troopers by giving him gold NMM rims and crosses.
I understand the basic concept of NMM. and have a pretty good idea of the colours to use, its just the shapes, (especially that of the cross) that are throwing me...

Can anyone give me any tips, or possibly an example of how to do this, preferably with some SBS instructions...? Or a photoshopped version?
