Glyphs/Tatoos/Freehand help...

I\'m wondering if anyone here has tips for painting markings and things on tanks.
Anything from major freehand to just wording and such.
I cant manage to do any of it with skill or quality.
Should I start with a darker or lighter color?
Where do I add the highlights?
I play Ork Deathskulls(dealing with looted tanks, artillery, guns, etc and would like to add some realism if I could put some weathered imperial symbols and the like.

Glyphs,Tatoos etc..

Hi , You can always photocopy onto hard card paper the glyphs you like and use an sharp modeling knife and make them into stencils and paint your mid-tone and blackline and highlight as needed...Using micro-pens and sharpies also works..them there\'s always transfers
I\'m still working on my free-hand stuff myself..try going to \"Shroud\'\'s web page or Goatmans for ideas they\'re fantastic
