Glue and pins help

Hey Folks, I just recently purchased GW\'s Sauron. I do not play the skirmish game but I am a total mark for the mini\'s. Anyway the Sauron mini comes in about 6 pieces (Head, arms, shoulders etc...) A friend suggested that I pin the arms in considering the weight. I have a pin drill but what do people use for pins or tiny rods? Do you clip paper clips down to size for a dowel rod or something else?

The Dark Lord of Mordor turned out quite nicely after my first attempt at pinning if if I do say so myself.
