Glasgow Conflict anyone?

Nope and it looks as if the Glasgow one will be the only \"Conflict\" this year.

Conflict North wasn\'t a financial success last year and there were a lot of complaints about the venue. Not to mention the behaviour of some of the \"observers\" of the painting competition, grabbing models without thought and despite the not \"Do Not Touch\" signs.

I think this should probably be in \'CMON Conventions\' perhaps... but either way...

I heard first hand from someone at GW that none of the Conflicts broke even last year.

Although the takings on the day (tickets and product sales at the event) covered the cost of the venues, they didn\'t make enough to cover the administrative/planning costs in the lead-up to each event and took up too much staff time to get them off the ground.

It\'s a real pitty, personally I think GW need to look more closely at whether things like the Conflict events, and some of their popular stores which have recently closed, despite in of themselves not being profitable, should be propped up by other elements of the company for the sake of maintaining and developing their customer base and the feeling of community that keeps it together.

But hey, if I was a shareholder maybe I\'d see things differently :)
