GD UK rules question

Hi, i was thinking of entering the youngblood category for golden demon. i have read the new rules and it says that you can use any single miniature. does this mean that you cant use parts from other minis and convert it? Also, it says that models supplied with 40mm bases or larger should be in another category. does this mean models that came with 40mm bases in the box when bought can be put onto smaller bases to not get disqualified?

thanks, oli

You can convert the mini as much as you want, by no means does it have to be just straight out of the blister/box! The only thing is you can\'t combine components from the LOTR range and the WHFB and 40K range due to their license.

The 40mm base rule stands for all models except Terminators I think, so it might be a bit risky to slap a normally illegal (well, I say illegal but IMO I think the rule is a bit rubbish) model onto a smaller base to allow it to be legal. E.g you can\'t buy an ogre and put it on a 25mm base (well for one it probably wouldn\'t fit but that\'s beside the point;) )

Cheers,
Tom

i would play it safe and go for a mini that comes on a 25mm base.

failing that, you could always glue bill to a base and spray him as he is teeny tiny and would probably fit in the cabinet lol

Yeah, I think that\'s ok. In fact it is:

YB rules

And also there was a Typhus model that placed in 2005, so I think you\'re safe with a termi of any sort.

what makes a terminator a terminator? i was thinking of combining typhus and the chaplain together but i thought if i did so it might not count as terminator

thanks, oli

a terminator is anything which has terminator armour,,,,so if you really wanted to,,,putting a monkey in a terminator suit would still make it a terminator ^^

for youngbloods any model in terminator armour is legal from what i know. The size matter is only there to stop people entering giants, greater demons etc etc.

Yes, the rule is \"man-sized\" coming on a 25mm or 20mm base, with Terminators being the only exception. Typhus, or a conversion using Typhus or another Terminator model, would be fine, but just because one won in 04 doesn\'t mean anything, as they changed the rules since then (the Silver winner in 05, for example, was Tortsein\'s ork warboss, which comes on a 40mm base and would be DQed if entered this year).

Poleaxe: ??? I\'m not that short! About 5\'8\" the last time I measured. For a 14 year old that isn\'t teeny tiny :moon:

would this qualify if i used an archaon cloak, typhus body and converted grey knight terminator legs?
thanks, oli

Sure would! The legs are terminator, the body is terminator, so the rest really doesn\'t matter - it\'s just bigger than mansize minis which aren\'t termies that you can\'t enter, eg. the aforementioned Ork Warboss, or a mounted mini. Also, the base can be as big as you want. My entry last year was on a huge 40mm base covered with slate, plants and beavers, and it won Silver :D

YES!

Seriously, the rules are quite simple. The figure can still be a terminator if you don\'t use all terminator parts...
