Hi all,

In my usual fashion here\'s a pre-submission pic. I did this one as a commission (still got the diorama base to build)and finished it a few days ago.

Photoshop\'s magic wand took a chunk out of a kneepad but as its a prelim pic I\'ve not corrected that.

The armour is NMM bronze, most of it is in shadow so I\'ve picked out very little detail to show this.

Anyway, enough blurb, here it is, what do you think?

That\'s some serious painting! The NMM is very life-like! I also like the way you picked out the veins on his arms. Great work!

Colin that is fantastic I realy like the way you have made it look and the shoulder pad looks very lifelike. That is a big model to paint and to make it look this good is a tremendous feat.

Thanks Tim. I\'ll be sorry to see it go back to the customer :~( maybe I\'ll just have to take longer on the diorama base :)

I\'ve got your \'Barbarians are coming\' in now, no news on the war elephant yet but I\'m working on it for you.

damn!

That is wonderful. The dark red around his face especially. The horns are very realistic looking. The wings too are very \'old and leathery\' which is perfect.

If you submit it to CMON I\'d suggest putting some sort of regular miniature near it to show the scale.

I love this model, and maybe I should get mine out of its box and actually START on it!

Did you have any trouble with the \'whip\'? It looks like that part could cause some assembly problems.

COOL!

Really nice work, it\'s hard to keep a consistant high quality paint job over such a large model, but that\'s what you\'ve done. I really like the contrast of the brighter knee and shoulder pad to the rest of the model which is all a darker tone. I wonder if lighter color horns would draw the eye up to the face when looking at it. (I\'m not sure, just a thought).

Great job, I look forward to seeing it on your diorama base!

@supervike: The whip was a bit tricky. I used a hairdryer to heat it then cool it quickly afterwards. You can\'t actually bend it too far as it is a bit fragile.

One day I\'ll paint mine too ???

You\'re going to have a very happy customer, I\'m certain. Whatever they are paying, they got their money\'s worth. The neck and axe are stupendous.

I find it a little odd that the veins on the arms are lighter in colour than the surrounding flesh. Though how to do it any different, I have no idea.

Good stuff sir!

(Mr Burns voice) \' Excellent!\'

If only there was a reliable supply of Dull-cote in the UK, because if you got rid of the gloss it would be outstanding!

great piece, and very warm colours on the skin. the armour plates and chains are fantastic imho. I didn\'t even realise it was nmm.

Just a small question, how much does a huge commision like this cost anyway? ;)
