Fuji Finepix S2940

I've been working with a pretty simple camera and want to upgrade just a little to improve the quality of my photos. Buy.com has a sale on this camera, a reconditioned Fuji Finepix S2940. I don't know too much about digital cameras and I want to improve that by getting a better camera, could this be the one? I know the key words aperture, white balance, etc. which my current camera doesn't have those options. I'd appreciate any kind of feedback and suggestion on this, the deal seems to be a pretty good price.

Looks quite a nice camera, the only thing I would say is that it has no Macro function so it might struggle with some of the bits you might want to take. However it is 14mp and has an insane optical zoom!

Hello. These cameras do have a macro mode. Actually they also have a super-macro mode, where they can get as close as 2 cm from the model to focus, yet you cannot use the flash when you do that.
