Freebooter Pirate Girl

Ooh, nice, the skin tone is awesome, and the painting is very good overall. Nice n\' smooth, great blending, etc. Deserves at least an 8 point something, hopefully your scores will pick up. The only thing I can comment on that I don\'t like is her face, which is not your fault. The sculpt sucks, and kinda makes her look like an over-the-hill, bitter pirate wench.

Yeah awesome paint job, very underated, but the face is hideous, which is a real shame, because otherwise the sculpt is great.

Try posting smaller pics, they are just a little too big and close up and I think its hurting your score.

Great work, though the multiple views should be combined into one.

I don\'t understand the one plank in the air, though. ???

The face isn\'t very inspiring,i agree, but your painting work is very good! I like expecially the hairs and skintones.

I have to agree that the sculpting of the face is not that great, but then who am I to complain about something I can\'t do.:D The face seems almost anime-ish. Overall you did a solid job painting this. Just noticed that her legs above the boots in the 2nd picture don\'t look quit right, kinda grey. But It could be just the angle or the picture quality. Your blends and highlights look very smooth. I will check out your other stuff.

Cade she is sweet. What scale is that? Will she work with my Warlord pirates? (Reaper\'s heroic scale).

I guess the easy question is - is that a 1\" base?

My only thought is that an pirate girl would have better tan.

Well, a tan would make sense, but I\'m fond of pale redheads.

I would say the scale would be very close to warlord. Freebooter may be a tiny bit smaller, but real, real close. She is mounted on a 1 inch metal warlord base right now. So, if you think she fits the base well, go for it. However, she is a limited edition that is no longer available. You might have some problems finding her.

Nice, but were 3 pictures really necessary ?

Who knows? In this thread and in comments by the CMON link, several people have asked for multiple angles. Just trying give an accurate representation.

I had seen only the view posted on Masterclass voting this month prior to seeing this thread, and I very much enjoyed a look at the other angles. I think most people like to see multiple views, they just also like them combined into one entry post.

The hair on this is wonderful, I love the way the highlights make it gleam. The skin is also superb, I think that\'s one of the most realistic fair skintones I\'ve seen on a mini. The NMM looks good, I particularly like the hilt on the weapon. Like the shirt a lot, too.

The face is a weak point, though like everyone else I agree that\'s mostly the sculpt. I love Werner\'s stuff, but he\'s got some funky faces on some of them. Painting wise I think it would help if the eyebrows were less thick/prominent. Maybe a thinner stroke of a slightly darker or lighter shade than the hair? The whole plank thing is a little weird, but again, that\'s Werner, not you. ;)

whoa! awesome! if I had to pick something that could be done a bit better that would be blade. It still looks great but for some reason I think it`s not very realistic.
What colours have you used for the hair?

The base coat for the hair was vallejo model color calvary red mixed with vallejo game color scrofolous brown. I shaded by added a dark brown to the base. The first level of hightlights were done with the base plus a little more scrofolous brown and bone white. After that, I pretty much just kept adding bone white to the mix.

Thanks! I`ll definitely try this color combination :)

Here was my theory:
When painting a blonde, you rarely use a true yellow. You generally use brownish yellow, pale yellow brown, etc, something more muted and natural than a bright true yellow. So, when I decided to paint a redhead, I used the same theory. Rather than taking pure orange or pure red and yellow, I took brownish red and mustard yellow brown color. Since the components were more muted/natural colors, the resulting orange was more natural as well.

This theory and application has worked better for me than starting with an orange and trying to add browns and yellows to it.

sheesh, what kind of world do you folks live in where every woman is beautiful?
I think the face is awesome - just a bit wide at the temples. She looks like she\'s been out in the salt air for a bit. An experienced woman who\'s holding onto her fading sex appeal while holding her own in a world dominated by men. Kind of how I imagine real women pirates were.

Only criticism is of course, please combine and only post once.

I\'m with VInce on this one. WHere\'s it written that all females are beautiful? Are all the male sculpts handsome?

\"An experienced woman who\'s holding onto her fading sex appeal while holding her own in a world dominated by men. Kind of how I imagine real women pirates were.\" That pretty much sums it all up.
