I noticed over on the sodapop mini site, they are discussing a kickstarter for it. When though? does anyone know. I have not seen much news on it yet!

I know right!?! A whole new theme, tons of new characters. I kinda wonder if can be played more or less stand alone like vondrak

it can.
it's not only an expansion, but also a 2.0 ruleset. Kinda reboot but with new minis in a new area (forest instead of volcano).

I see that they split ways with CMON regarding the kickstarter. I will be curious to see how it plays out [speaking as someone still waiting on Relic Knights to ship].

I for one feel burnt by their Relic Knights kickstarter and will likely not purchase any more Soda Pop miniatures. Not that they care.

I'd like to back them, but atm I have 0 confindence in them delivering. Not only because of RK-KS, but also because of Robotech KS.

But no worries, it will fund even without me, and they promised they won't have any exclusive, so all could be bought in their shop later(even the KS-exclusive RK-SDE-s).
Soo I'm vary not only if they could deliver it, but also if they keep any of their promises. So far the track record is not promising.

Not to play devil's advocate but I don't think you can judge SPM based on the Relic Knights Kickstarter, given that it was run by CMON. I have no experience of the Robotech KS, I missed that one so can't offer anything with regards to that. SPM are doing this completely on there own though, much as the did with Tentacle Bento (although on a bigger scale) so I'm confident in them!

The debate about the crossover figures have been going on a lot in the KS comments and on Soda Pop's forums. It all really boils down to personal opinions so I'm neither going to defend or condemn it.

I'm certain it will deliver, whether it hits the December estimate or not is a different matter but thus is the risk you take with a KS.

Anyway, couple more goals have hit:

For the record here's what comes in the FK Box

And here's wha'ts now in the "Always Super" pledge level (which is the only pledge level)

and the optional buy in stuff:

yeah also backed it. Neat that SPM is able to stand on their own now! I am unfamiliar with the relic knights issues, what happened there? I figure you take a chance when backing something and might not get anything but I am pretty pleased with what I have gotten from rivet wars so far! So I am sure CMON is going to do great with arcadia quest and rivet wars shipment part 2! I suspect there may be a snag or two with forgotten kings as this is SPM's first KS on their own but still, I think it is worth it to give them a shot! + I live in colorado, so gotta support my locals!

You should be aware that Cool Mini or Not ran the RK KS, not Soda Pop Miniatures. SPM only did the content. CMoN is responsible for the Kickstarter, production and fulfillment. It's like blaming the waitress when the kitchen screws up.

Soda Pop has been in business for a number of years, and has produced good stuff prior to their involvement with Cool Mini or Not and/or Palladium. The Robotech KS was run by Palladium, not Soda Pop. Palladium isn't exactly know for timeliness.

yes you are right, but...
- Other CMON kickstarters delivered on time or max 2 month late (chaosball)
- in the Robotech one they have not even finished the designs so far, so the part they were responsible for
- SPM in business: they never were exactly on time, the announced and real release were months apart. (Roxxor, Vulcanis, ...well TFK too (originally said it will be released in Q1, now with rules2.0 and so it goes to Q4 at best) )
- and most importantly: you see what's common in those 2? excessive delays and SPM.

But it doesn't matter. TFK is funded and is going strong. Even without 1 or 2 cautious people they'll blow through their planned strechgoals before the end (maybe even before half-time).
Because of the figures I'll most likely buy them (or at least some of the heroes that are looking good) when it hits the store/stores.
Will I have a good deal buying it like that instead of the KS? No.
Will I take a risk that I'm not willing to make at this point? No.
Will they still succeed? Yes.

I recall a lot of complaint over Zombicide 2 running late, also Sedition Wars Wave 2 running very late.

In the Robotech KS, ND have to go through Palladium, which has to go through another approval. It's not clear where the delays are, but I sure wouldn't put them all on SPM.

I don't care whether you back FK or not. Just don't blame SPM when it's not necessarily their fault.

In a partnership - RK (SPM and CMoN), Robotech (ND and Palladium) both sides have a responsibility to insure the product meets expectations and to try to keep to the timeline set forth by them. Placing the RK fiasco all on CMoN and the Robotech one all on Palladium is disingenuous. In both situations SPM/ND are as responsible as the other party. Add to that the point that SPM has been consistently late with the release of their own products (and we are talking about single miniature boxes, as well as their expansions) and it is easy to point to SPM for causing at least part of the delay.

As a counter to your statement, don't exonerate SPM by blaming their partners either. In each case when a partner is present all parties must shoulder a share of the blame.
